I bought tickets for my wifeās birthday because she loves everything dateline, murder mystery, and serial killer related and I thought this would be something we could enjoy together as a date night. Based on all the positive reviews I expected a dinner theatre style show that would be a compelling murder mystery and fun for us to solve. Maybe our expectations were too high. What we experienced instead left us very underwhelmed. Thereās a āmurderā in the room with zero setup and then the majority of the time it is two detectives reading off clues that they then give you on a phone to review later. The problem is the discovery of these clues have no setup (they just pull pieces of paper from their back pocket) and the story isnāt really compelling enough to care. The whole show is basically just two people talking with tired dialogue and cheesy jokes mixed in with audience interactions where half of it is āinterrogationsā to find out if they are the killer and the other half is meaningless antics just to fill time. Like making people do cat walks or having them pretending to stab a corpse as a robot, vulture, or a unicycling clown juggling knives. We were so bored we almost contemplated leaving after the 2nd act realizing that things werenāt going to get any better. By the end I didnāt really care who did it, even though I guessed right, but I wasnāt invested in the story due to all the silly acting and antics. The food was ok at best and service was fine but the show overall was very disappointing. To top it off once the show was over they were giving out free shot glasses to anyone who wrote a 5 star review. (Company responded saying this wasnāt true, but thatās the exact words that came out of the hosts mouth that evening) So that is why I felt compelled to write this review tonight, because sometimes a bunch of 5 star reviews are not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI Attended the murder mystery on March 26th which started off really nice but became very disappointing at the end. The host of the event brought politics into the event. What she shared WASN'T relevant AT ALL and had NOTHING to do with solving the mystery. She read a personal opinion response from an attendee which was his personal political view. NOT ONLY was it clearly not the correct answer but it had NOTHING to do with solving the murder mystery. IN NO WAY, SHAPE OR FORM DID THIS NEED TO BE SHARED. IT WASN'T CONSIDERATE AT ALL, NOT TO THE GUEST WHO WROTE IT (WHICH BY THE WAY ONLY THE HOST HERSELF COULD SEE IT) NOR TO THE OTHER GUESTS WHO WAS FORCED TO LISTEN. WE PAID FOR A NIGHT OUT OF ENJOYMENT. UNFORTUNATELY AFTER WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT EVENING ENDED ON A SOURED NOTE BECAUSE THE HOST WANTED LAUGHS AND GIGGLES... WHICH FELL FLAT....NO ONE'S LAUGHING!! Clearly it seemed as if she wanted everyone to know she shared this person's viewpoint and if not, why did she share it? CAN WE HAVE ONE NIGHT WHERE EVERYONE CAN AGREE TO JUST ENJOY THE MOMENT??? GUESS NOTš”. This showed poor judgement in my opinion from the host. Personal political views have no place in an environment where we PAY for a night out to get away from all the decisiveness. YOUR SHOW SHOULD NOT BE A PLATFORM FOR PERSONAL POLITICS IT WILL ALWAYS OFFEND SOMEONE. AND ALTHOUGH EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OPINIONS AND CHOICES IT DOESN'T MEAN I NEED TO...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a time... let's start with the mechanics of the show. There are several scenes, in which they give you clues. The clues are also in a digital format, so during the scenes they basically just read what is already in the digital clues. The rest of the time is audience interactions. They "interrogate" audience members, including a few obvious actor plants. But the interactions with the other non-actor audience members were hard to watch, like making three audience members do a catwalk, or making another do a "lie detector" bit and asking if he was wearing underwear. They didn't add to the murder mystery element at all, I guess that is the "comedy" element of the show. It was not funny. They relied on cheap sexual jokes, and crass childish humor, for example at one point they ran around the room with a pair of underwear, putting it on people's face and heads. Most of the audience was incredibly drunk, maybe I was just too sober to enjoy it, or I wasn't the target demographic.. but the others at my table had similar opinions... I was shocked that this has as many 5 star reviews as it does, but then at the end they were giving out shot glasses to people that gave 5 star reviews, so I'm curious how many of these are because of the bribery. If you are looking for a mystery solving event, I'd suggest an escape room (Escape Artist is the best in Greenville) and if you're looking for comedy.. definitely...
