Well, let me tell you, folks, if you’re looking for a dining experience that’ll tickle your taste buds and have you laughing like a hyena, then La Parilla on Woodruff Road is the place to be! Now, I’m no food critic, but I know good grub when I see it, and boy, do I see it here!
First off, let’s talk about the atmosphere. You walk in and it’s like stepping into a fiesta! The colors are brighter than my dad jokes at a family reunion. The staff greets you with smiles so wide, you’d think they just won the lottery! And if you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the chef doing a little cha-cha while flipping tortillas. Now that’s what I call multitasking!
Now, onto the food. Oh boy, where do I start? The tortillas are fresher than my morning coffee! You could probably use them as a Frisbee, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you want to be the talk of the park. The tacos? Let’s just say if I had a nickel for every time I’ve devoured one, I’d have enough nickels to buy a small island… or at least a really nice fishing boat.
I ordered the carne asada, and let me tell you, it was so tender it could’ve been a pillow! I half expected it to start snoring. The salsa had just the right kick, like my Aunt Edna after a little too much eggnog at Christmas. And don’t even get me started on the guacamole—smooth, creamy, and ready to party!
Now, if you’re planning a visit, make sure to save room for dessert. Their churros are so good they should be illegal! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, dusted with cinnamon sugar—my taste buds were doing the cha-cha in celebration!
In a nutshell, La Parilla on Woodruff Road has everything you need for a delicious meal and a hearty laugh. So grab your family, your friends, or even that neighbor you’ve been avoiding, and head on over. You won’t just leave with a full belly—you’ll leave with a smile wider than a slice of watermelon on a summer day! Trust me, you’ll be back faster than you can say “more...
Read moreAfter trying what felt like every Mexican place in town, La Parrilla became our favorite Mexican restaurant, by far. The food is great, chips and salsa are great, service is great, interior is nice while also festive, they just hit all the notes. In particular, we like the steak dishes and got in the habit of ordering the Arrecherra and the Tampiquena, and ended up eating here very regularly, ordering these dishes, and really only these dishes.
And then... Covid hit. After a bit, the prices on our dishes (the only ones we really order) jumped up once, and after a few months, jumped up again. The Arrecherra in particular was bad - I believe it used to be $18, and is now $30. That's just beyond the budget. Sadly, we stopped coming.
Honestly, though, looking recently, most of the other dishes seem fairly priced, it's just the steaks that went through the roof. These are skirt steaks, pieces of side meat, not something higher-end like a NY Strip or Ribeye. I know beef prices went up for a bit but they mostly came back down. It's disappointing that these price increases have stayed.
Recently, we gave La Parrilla another try and just both ordered the Tampiquena ($22.25, raised from I believe $14), and we had our usual great experience. We looked and saw some other items on the menu (reasonably priced) which we'd like to try, so we'll definitely be back again - just not for the Arrecherra unless the price comes back closer to Earth. La Parrilla, can you help some...
Read moreThis popular restaurant is worth the wait in line. Their approach to Mexican food varies from Tex-Mex to more authentic. The service was outstanding. Laura, our server, was attentive and corrected an order without hesitation. Her intuition to split the orders and assign the correct meals and drinks to the appropriate couples was almost psychic in nature. Well done, Laura!
The house margaritas were a bit too sweet for my taste but rectified with another shot of tequila. My wife had a frozen strawberry margarita that she liked very much.
My wife had a vegetarian meal, and there were more than a few selections for her to choose from. My fish tacos were great. A friend had vegetable fajitas but added steak. She liked the extra veggies, especially the grill tomatoes, and thought the steak bits were the best she had in a Mexican restaurant.
Their use of cheese dip to cover burritos seemed odd to me, but others liked it very much. It is an easy matter to have that seved on the side if you wish.
Truly, there is something for everyone, even if someone in your doesn't like Mexican food!
There's a children's and a M-F lunch that looks good. Will check that out soon.
The drinks menu is a good one and others have said that the mocktails are great!
Recommended. We will be back.
Oh, it was a bit noisy, and the square tables were a bit small, but I understand now why this place is popular. Good food, great service, reasonable prices, and good...
