Larger store than Hillsboro for sure! Probably double the size. Staff was very nice and helpful. The store was very organized and had a large variety of home/kitchen items. If you are worried about reading the prices or packaging bc it's in Japanese, there are conversion charts everywhere plus some products have an English translation sticker printed on them saying what it is/ingredients etc. It takes at least an hour to fully look through everything in the store. Prices are fair for the quality. Most items are $1.75-$6 but usually $3 or lower. Quality of items are a little higher or on par with dollar tree level but not terrible.
If you are looking for "kawaii" merch you won't really find alot of it here. There are some things sanrio characters on like folding fans, little coins bags, and small zip lock bags. I would say total of it was maybe 3/4 an isle?
A good amount of snacks, sweets, and drinks from mainly Japan and Thailand but there was a few Korean. The drinks included some refrigerated cold ones also. Staff did let me know that they do seasonally change around items closer the entrance, 1 - 2...
Read moreI have wanted to check this place out ever since I found it on Instagram. I was thrilled to see it made it to Gresham. I was not looking forward to driving to Hillsboro to visit that one. The store does not disappoint. The only issue we had was figuring out the prices. It was frustrating at first. I asked several people who were shopping but they too were new to the store and had yet to figure it out. There were no employees around other than 2 girls at the cash register and there was a long line. Thanks to the "commercials" that played in between songs that explained the pricing I was able to figure out how the pricing worked. Almost everything in the store is 1.25. I found lots of fun stuff, but only bought a few items that I could not live without. Their reusable shopping bags at the check out area are so inexpensive, big in size, fun designs, and great quality. Yes it has their logo on it but I dont mind. Looking forward to going back again. I could spend hours in there discovering hidden treasures. Definitely recommend...
Read moreDaiso works in Japan a little bit like a dollar store. It's full of inexpensive, often cheaply made but functional household goods, with the vast majority of them in a roughly under $10 range.
Daiso in Gresham Oregon has many of the same goods, but pretty far from Dollar store pricing. At the current exchange rate, everything cost roughly twice as much as it does in Japan.
If you just want some sort of bagged snack and aren't near Uwajimaya and Beaverton, it's a lot cheaper than a trip to Japan. And if you simply want cheaply made plastic knick-knacks in a Japanese style, it would be a good choice.
But if you want an inexpensive towel rack or pencil holder or whatever, you are much better off going to a big box store or an American...
