Regarding Jewelry Repair on my Ring: Patrons Beware
These are the facts:
A stone in my diamond wedding ring needed to be replaced.
It was explained that the diamond will be replaced and the crown needed to be repaired. The service expected 2 crowns repaired, ring polished and diamond of the same grade, clarity, and color replaced.
When I picked up my ring the diamond was replaced but it was cloudy and my other diamonds in the centerpiece of the diamonds were clear and outshined the replacement. In addition, another diamond appeared cloudy and cloudier than the rest. Out of the centerpiece, 2 out of the 12 diamonds were cloudy so it looked off. Jorge called the Repair facility “Ruiz” out of Racine per the phone identifier from his caller ID and the repair facility said they repaired 2 crowns and the work was completed. I explained the visible clarity and the reflection of the replaced diamond were not reflecting the light like the other diamonds were. He said we did the work so… Jorge apologize and he said that he would have them fix it again and come back in 2 days. He called in 2 days as promised I got the ring now all 12 of the center stones are cloudy. So were the stones replaced or the stones heated to match the other 2 stones that were cloudy I don’t know. Jorge knew the work was shotty. He had to admit it the 1st time and he knows that the work was not good and now all the diamonds are cloudy.
What I learned from this…Tips if you decide to get service completed here
Get detailed written documentation of what work will be done. It was not documented and the repair personnel did what they wanted to.
Listen to my gut… after I got my ring back the 1st time with bad work “completed” my gut was like girl…” don’t give it back” I don’t return food at a restaurant, I don’t know why I gave it back and trusted the work to be corrected. They made it worst
Take pictures before you give your property to get the work done. I do have pictures but I should have taken more.
I hope my detailed report of my experience...
Read moreI am so happy I found this store. I have a piece of southwest jewelry that no jeweler would touch. It was a size 9 embedded turquoise ring. I needed the ring to be resized to a 7, but because the stone was embedded every jeweler I talked to kept telling me no because they would ruin the stone and no one wanted that issue, which was completely understandable. However, when i came across these gentlemen they did not turn me away so fast. Joseph saw the ring and said he could do it with full confidence. He told me what he would have to do but that he would take care of it. Let me tell you he did not disappoint!! It took 6 days, because of the request I would give him all the time he needed. They called me the day they said they would; let me know it was finished and when I went to pick it up I was so ecstatic. I could finally wear this ring! No scratches or marks indicating modifications. They also shined it up for me and i couldn't be happier. I will definitely be bringing more...
Read moreWent in for a simple watch links to be removed to be sized for my son's wrist. This store wanted to charge me 35.0 plus tax. Just to remove 4 links. Simple Seiko watch Series 5. I knew it was not that indepth job. The guy at the store stated, "it's s complicated link and not sure if I have the tools to do it may take long too." That was not correct and a lie. I knew it was not that complex. Took it to Vernon Hills Mall. Fast Fix Jewelry and Watch Repair. They took the watch completed the link removal in 15 minutes and only charged 16.99. So moral of this. Don't settle for what people tell you. This shop is over priced both with repairs and the watches are marked up way too high in the store. I know watches and the retail value. Truly surprised me also how high prices were for Casio to Citizen watches. Shop around people...
