DO NOT USE MICHAELS AS AN ACCESS POINT FOR UPS PACKAGES. I wish I could give this negative stars. I wish I could make so many people aware of how awful this place is for packages. I’m putting my story below to hopefully save anyone the headache of a package being rerouted to any Michaels, stop it mid transit, send it ANYWHERE ELSE. They will hold your packages hostage until it is returned to sender and they are not qualified to handle your mail. They are even more strict than the DMV!
I made the mistake of ordering a package before going in a trip. No one was there to sign for my package (I don’t even know why someone needed to sign for it, my package isn’t even worth over $100 but items needed for a bachelorette party in a few weeks). I called Michael’s, they said it’s up to the managers discretion to release the package. (That being said this entire issue is because of the manager) I called UPS, they said to send someone over who lives at my address with a utility bill to pick up my package. (Literally a family member with the same last name who lives at my address wasn’t enough for them) Michaels wouldn’t accept that. They said I had to be there in person with a photo ID by March 8th or it will be returned to sender. I called UPS back, they said to change my package delivery and have it attempted to be redelivered to my original address. 6 days later and it still isn’t redelivered and is still in Michaels possession so I called back and the manager of UPS (whom I am speaking with now because I’ve spent my ENTIRE VACATION trying to get my package picked up) basically tells me that Michael’s is holding my package hostage. I don’t return to town until the 11th so my package can’t be picked up even though I’m following UPS guidelines, they won’t give it back to UPS to be delivered and now, it will ultimately be returned to sender and my friends bachelorette party will be ruined because of this Michaels. DO NOT USE THIS ACCESS POINT AT ALL COSTS. UPS should not be partnered with them, they are not meant to handle mail and they are not qualified to be...
Read moreFirst and foremost I understand what is happening to specialty stores these days. With the intention of online shopping brick stores have a lot of competition and need to cut costs to have a chance. This store was a mess. I don't know how anyone expects to find anything, and because the shelves are such a mess you can't rely on the price shown being for the item you're buying. The staff is over worked under experienced and just looking for a corner to hide in and get their day over with. They aren't bad employees, mostly young with limited knowledge and to many tasks. At this point you can buy a lot of what Michaels sells at Target and Walmart, for less. It seems like a fourth of the store is for cheep gimmicky items to entice children, I'm looking at you slime kits. Remember what you are Michaels, you are a store dedicated to arts and crafts. Focus on filling your store with what someone might need for those arts and crafts that they can't necessarily wait to have delivered...
Read moreShopping at Michaels is always fun for me. The checkout process on the other hand, is not a good experience. Using self-checkout should be fairly easy. Unfortunately, the SCO machine did not ring my item up at the right price of $6.99 instead rang up as $8.99. An associate had to check the price said it was not in the proper place but said she would price adjust the item. After price adjusting, I was unable to use my 30% off regular price coupon. I was frustrated and decided I was going to check the shelf and price check it myself. Another associate met me where the item was, confirmed the regular price was $6.99. I then had to go back to the associate to check out and it rang up as $6.99. I don't remember if there was an apology for the price difference or the whole hassle of 'like they were doing me a favor' by adjusting the price to $6.99, when I checked. This experience of the SCO machine displaying a higher price and having to prove it was wrong and wasting the...
