Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Gurnee

When this Popeyes first opened the chicken was hot, fresh, well seasoned and had a clean appearance.

The new staff have no life to them and I went back after the previous staff left and the new cashier was rude, didn't smile and still has the same attitude from the last time I was there.

I went yesterday with a coworker and sampled the pickle brine chicken sandwich, and it's not good hence the reason for my review at this time of night.

I am drinking tea as I write. I watched the cashier do a lot of unsanitary work: she didn't clean the trays and left them on the counter with the bucket of water (which should not been out on the counter with the customers food).

Then went outside with the food gloves on and came back in (without changing her gloves) and began to prepare another customer meal.

And what really got me is all these extra charges for gravy and sauce cups and then a while ago one staff had a cup for tips! Changes should be displayed on the menu to avoid false advertising.

I get ANY job sometimes is hard but, if any person who does not make an effort to be nice and show hospitality, you devalue the customers presence who don't know why you are rude to them.

Try to be honest and respectful and don't try to squeeze every dime from the customer with unnecessary charges and you'll gain better customers and less bad reviews.

Let me say this I only write reviews if real good or very bad. I went here and purchase two 10pc dinner. Added 6 wings and 2 dinner boxes. Had two dirty rice, Cole slaw and mashed potatoes as well and a apple pie. He said we had to wait six minutes for fresh apple pie cause they didn’t have any ready. Now when we got our food the fries was dark and old and they have more fries and changed the chicken to one of the big boxes so no I didn’t check again that’s definitely my fault. Also the food was in the serving pans and it was only 9:30pm and the manager said I’m really ready to gone home and I got three hours left. Get home and this how all the chicken and fries looked. No utensils or napkins at all. The manager was so busy trying to flirt talking about I gave two extra pies and came out from behind the counter to come outside and say hey we kept walking. The only reason I gave a four in cleaning because the young lady was mopping. I’m just trying to understand it. Why risk giving bad food when you had three hours...

I am not one to write reviews but I cannot let this slide. I went to this new location which is close to home and ordered specifically 4 chicken breast and 3 tenders and 6 biscuits only, girl at the drive thru was not listening at all, sounded annoyed, hard to understand then got up to the window and they hand me a drink. I said I didn't order a drink and they said it was part of the combo. I asked what it was and they said a coke, I don't drink soda and was never asked what drink I wanted. They didn't have any of the sauces according to them so I left got home and boom there are no tenders and the chicken breast looked old half crunchy half soggy. I threw it all away because if employees don't care to listen and that is what you get I surely am not eating that. Time and money wasted but worth it not going back there. Awful employees that could care less about working or how customer service works. Make the drive to Round Lake, way better people and the food...
