Harbor Freight — Local services in Hadley

On Valentines Day (2/14/22) I went to the Hadley MA Harbor Freight store to purchase an Apache case for my tools. Much to my surprise, I was approached by two uniformed police officers who had been contacted by the store manager. I was then led to the back corner of the store. Once there, The store manager stated to the two police officers, that I had previously stolen two welders from this store the week before (each welder was $900). This was not the case. I have never stolen anything in my life. The officer then proceeded to pat me down which was invasive in itself. I was discriminated against and I have experienced my fair share of harassment over the years. This tops the list. I was beyond embarrassed as other customers in the store looked on. After the police determined that I did not steal anything and it was mistaken identity, the store manager refused to apologize for what they had put me through. I bought an engine crane from here and let me tell you, what should of taken an hour or two, took MULTIPLE trips to the hardware store and a lot of fabrication just to get the thing together. I should have just thrown the crane away and cut my losses. The hardware given was not correct at all, I wasn’t given the right pieces to go together so we had to do some cutting and fabricating lol. When I called, they said I need to bring it back so they can give me another one, was not going to happen. My only other option was to drive 30 minutes to get new hardware which probably wouldn’t have been correct either. Very disappointed in the customer service, the “solutions” they came up with and the product itself. Just be warn, if you buy anything from here, expect there to be issues and the customer service to be awful. I spent way too time and money on this. I learned my lesson. The supervisors at this location are rude and DO NOT make you feel welcomed or like they want anything to do with you. Deb was working at the time I went into this location and we were kind and even said have a nice day and she wouldn't talk to us and just wanted us to leave. We did come right before close which we were unaware of but I definitely wouldn't want to go back to this location because of that. My boyfriend mentioned the male supervisor was also rude to him during a return of a pressure washer and tried telling him he couldn't get the warranty unless he purchased it right when he bought his pressure washer which was not true and you are allowed 90 days.
