Worst Supermarket I ever been to! They sell bad seafood and charge high prices for like Snow crab I paid about $32.00 for that is frozen and when you thaw it out the clusters have big black areas that look disgusting and crab taste terrible unfit to eat! In the past I brought frozen Lobster claws also at about $32.00.that were all rubbery and dried out and not fit to eat back to the store.
Everytime I returned bad food they gave me a hard time. I called their Corporate Customer service when the store said they did not want to take bad food back from me for credit. Today when I brought back the bad Snow Crab they said they did not want to take it back for credit. They said I return things there every week when actually I only have gone there about once a month. I video recorded how badly they treated me and when the seafood person came over said the crab was bad then he insulted me and said I must have left the crab out on my counter for it to go bad. When actually I thawed the crab out in the refrigerator for one day which should not make the crab go bad.
Even though under this horrible treatment by many people at the store for simply wanting credit for the bad crab and remained calm they said they were calling the Police to throw me out of the store and do a no trespassing on me so I could not go back again without getting into legal trouble. They did give me credit for the crab when a Police officer came there. But they told the Police they wanted to still do a No trespassing on me!
This chain of stores is almost out of Business and I can see why! Avoid this chain and go to a good honest store that treats you right like Publix.
Winn-Dixie was in bankruptcy for a reason! Anthony Hucker is the CEO of Southeastern Grocers, which owns and operates Winn-Dixie said the following:
"Weāve evolved on how we engage with our customers"
Based on how horribly they treated me and poor quality of their food they will be headed back to bankruptcy again soon!
I hope German grocery giant Aldi who will be taking over will fire all the nasty people at this store. But maybe the new company like how they are like Nazis...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThere are two Winn-Dixie supermarkets withing driving distance of my home. One in Haines City, Florida, and one in Auburdale, Florida. Although the Haines City store is 11 miles from my home, and the other one is 20 miles, I usually go to the one in Auburndale even though it is twice as far away.
The Aurburndale Winn-Dixie is a nice, large clean store. They have terrific prices and a great selection of items. Their seeded kaiser rolls, onion pocket rolls, and seeded hoagie rolls are reminiscent of the rolls I used to get in New York and Maryland. Put them in a toaster oven or conventional oven for a short period of time to crisp the outside and give the crust some crunch, and a great sandwich will await you (it is the bread that makes a great sandwich). I usually buy a dozen or two of rolls at a time so I always have good bread in the house...slice them...bag them...freeze them...defrost them...bake them...yum!
This Winn-Dixie also has a good selection of meat. And their weekend specials can't be beat. I recently bought some nice thick porterhouse steaks for $5.99 a pound, cooked them with a reverse sear method--finishing them off in salted garlic butter in a cast iron pan--and they were as good, if not better, than anything you can get at Ruth Chris or Peter Luger.
They have great deals on seafood, deli, spices--you name it, but you need to know your prices and get things when on sale. And right next door to the Auburndale location, is a Winn-Dixie liquor store. It also has some great deals and specials, with freebies, multiple bottle discounts, and other discounts that can be stacked. If you are a drinker, check out their liquor store ad online, you will probably be surprised.
As you can see, I like Winn-Dixie. I like every one I have been in, but in my area, the Auburndale store is the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis store is being "modernized" as of Hurricane Ian. Not as a result of the hurricane, just the timing.
The fruit and veg section are being revamped as are the deli, meat and fish departments, and they are looking good (so far). The biggest change though is the front of house, and it's currently a shambles!
Previously one could go to the customer service desk to buy cigarettes and cash out with up to 5 items from the store. The customer service desk has now moved to take up what were two checkout lanes, and now only do "lotto and western union" despite being the only part of the store to stock cigarettes.
I was sent to the cash registers to check out and "order" my cigarettes for delivery to the register! Since I needed human assistance for this, I bypassed the brand new self-checkout registers and waited in line at an actual cashier-attended register. The lady was very sweet and quickly scanned the 3 items in my cart, but then had to walk back up the store to the customer service desk to get my cigarettes, and back again to the register to scan them and finish my checkout!
Oh, and those self checkout registers? Yeah! I actually drive through Walmart's parking lot to get to this store just to not have to deal with self-checkout registers! It appears I'll have to drive through a few more parking lots to bypass this store too when they start laying off cashiers in pursuit of the almighty dollar!
I am not going to lay myself open to the embarrassment of being publicly accused of shoplifting because I forgot to scan an item. Nor do I intend to complete scanning my groceries and then head out the back to help offload a delivery truck. If you want customers to run the store for you, then adjust your prices accordingly - you can't have your...
