I recently was in the market for a lift chair. I had already gone to a few other stores in the Frederick/Hagerstown but nothing really impressed me. My sister told me she had recently made her own furniture purchase from Bob's Discount Furniture in Hagerstown and that I should stop by there.
Upon walking into the store, I was graciously greeted by store salesperson Melissa. I told her what I was looking for and she took me to the area where they had several on display. I further explained as to why I was looking for a lift chair and other details about how it would be used. Melissa quickly pointed out the 3 best options that were available that she felt would be most suitable for my needs.
I began trying each one out and Melissa detailed each of the options on all of those featured pieces. She then allowed me to have my own time trying out all of the options. Melissa would periodically check on me to see how I was doing and if I had any questions.
After spending a considerable amount of time getting familiar with each chair, I decided that there was one chair that I was leaning toward. Melissa checked on availability of the chair and found it to be in stock as it was a relatively new item at the time. She advised that should I choose to purchase this chair, it should be able to be delivered within a week's time. Melissa processed what available credit I would have for the store and she gave me a quote for me to take with me.
I returned a few days later with my niece to help me make a decision. We again met with Melissa and we spent time going over the chair once again. After my niece also agreed that this particular chair would be a great fit for me, we finalized everything with Melissa and it was an extremely smooth transaction. She went over an extended warranty option and checked on delivery availability. My chair remained in stock and a delivery date was set for less than a week later.
As of the time of this review, the delivery date is still a few days out so I can't comment yet on how the delivery went.
Melissa was an outstanding delight to work with. She always genuinely friendly throughout and at no point did she ever make me feel pressured in any way. She was thoroughly knowledgeable of the products and I greatly enjoyed the experience. I would not only highly recommend the Hagerstown Bob's Furniture Store but more specifically having Melissa as your sales guide in particular.

Read moreI had some trouble ordering our new sectional online so I called in and was greeted by Michael who was immensely helpful, got our order placed, and gave us his direct email and cell phone number to help us through each step of the process. He was very patient, attentive, and overall amazing through the entire process!
We opted for threshold delivery over white glove and were told the delivery crew would bring our sectional up the stairs (no elevator) and into the front door of our third floor apartment.
The delivery arrived on time, but unfortunately one of the two delivery guys was very unhappy (and unprofessional) when he found out he would have to haul the pieces up the stairs. Without going into detail, I'll just say it was not a great experience. They also delivered an ottoman instead of a corner piece, and in the wrong color.
I reached out to Michael after this incident and explained the bad experience, that we needed to swap out the wrong piece that was delivered, and expressed my desire to have a different delivery person do the swap.
Michael was on top if it! He was quick to apologize for the unprofessional delivery man, alerted the proper departments of the incident to ensure no one else has that experience, and got me set up for the swap within a few days.
When the delivery crew arrived with the final piece, they were AMAZING! I believe they upgraded us to white glove delivery for the swap because they were the NICEST guys and very professional. They got the new piece in, unwrapped, and took the other piece out in a matter of minutes.
We are completely in love with our sectional, however, I think what we love most about Bob's, especially after this experience, is the customer service! Things go wrong and life happens, but the way its handled really makes all the difference, and we now know we can trust Bob's to take care of us even when things go wrong.

Read moreI would like to start by saying we are loyal customers of Bobs furniture. As we walked in Rene greeted us at the door and let us know she was there to help. We were fine with that. As we walked around the store she followed us around like a lost puppy. We couldn’t even look at a piece of furniture without seeing her shadow within 5 feet. Then, we asked her to please create a cart/ shopping list for us and wanted to run us through another bank using our credentials when we were already approved for an amount with one of their banks. She even confused my boyfriend’s name at one point and assumed he was a girl due to his name. When we were ready to purchase she was trying to force the GoofProof Insurance without even asking me if I wanted it. I then proceeded to say no to her and it made her mad so she said “ if this breaks or rips into shreds it’s your fault”. When concluding the purchase, she couldn’t let the manager hear me talk to him because she was talking over everyone. She was also training to new employees who I noticed were really aggravated with her since she did not explain anything to them and sprinted through the training. She made the whole experience very unpleasant, aggravating and exhausting. Everyone else was okay the manager was very nice and understanding and DJ from the Acima department was very helpful, unlike Rene. She needs better training as a sales associate.
