I*HIGHLY disappointed!!!
My fiance and I visited the Mays Landing Hobby Lobby, with it being his very first time visiting the store. I, on the other hand, considered myself a very satisfied, frequent shopper to HL. I have never once had an issue with any aspect of the store during my previous shopping experiences, especially during a heavy traffic flow. Always fully merchandised, great CS, clear aisles, desired products, enough CARTS, 😀
Hobby Lobby has always created an atmosphere of well- merchandised, beautiful floorsets that create the experience of individualized shopping for each guest, frequent shopper, or a newbie to the store.
With that, we entered to store being greeted politely by whom I assumed may have been the MOD. I can say that we did not check what time the store closed because we were still shopping when employees were ending their shift. We were notified by an older female employee that the store was closing.
We apologized several times and headed directly up to the checkout. I was planning on making a rather huge purchase at the time and thereafter since we had to cut it short. I have been battling Breast Cancer 🎀 for some time now. I decided to start a foundation for the Fight so I had related color themes and materials to create Breast Cancer Awareness merchandise at the counter to purchase along with several gifts for the children in our family for the holiday.
The check out begins with the polite gentleman at the register, and I see that same older female employee that told us to checkout hovering in my personal space. So I ask her politely, "Can I help you?" I was amazed and confused as to how AND WHY the older employee had made it up to our particular register before us. Wow... what was the hurry?? I would like to move that fast again!
The older employee's response to me asking her if SHE needed help in my personal space reads as follows "YES! I wanted to know if you were going to PAY for the THREE markers that you picked up?" Pointing in the direction of my fiancé, who has pulled out several hundreds of dollars by this time to pay for our merchandise that the register employee had begun to ring. My fiancé told her that she couldn't be serious and that he decided against them, so he placed them on a random shelf. She has the audacity to ask WHICH SHELF!! My fiance told her he was not sure and to go look, and SHE RUNS to find them! As if we were going to steal them! Was this woman serious?? This was a joke, right?
Flabbergasted, I apologize to the assisting employee and inform him that we will not be making a purchase at all and to have a great night.
After being treated as if we were raiding the store to walk out with three markers and stopping to pay for other merchandise before we hit the parking lot is appalling and comical.
Thank you to the MOD for acknowledging the incident immediately as we were exiting.
Unfortunately, we still left the store without any materials for our project and the guarantee that we are HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED with this shopping experience! All we can do is laugh about the situation. I am grateful I have other things to...
Read moredidnt receive any help from staff / cashier made questionable commentary (but i'll chalk it up to a bad day).
store is huge! many aisles and sections to explore. prices arent bad, location is fairly easy to access, but it is hard to find your way around as many of the aisles arent labeled.
sales selection in back left corner of store is relatively large and well discounted but its such a mess of broken and unsorted items its not even worth it
the entire middle section of the store felt like a disappointing pier 1/walmart. hybrid. great selection of mass produced canvas art/home decor if you're into that.
limited selection of artist's grade paints and supplies. decent brush options. 'Ok' pricing. great prices on canvas though and good selection of options. they have a decent amount of screenprinting supplies though which was exciting!
seasonal stuff: enormous christmas section (obviously) for this time of year but almost 0 fall or halloween selection anymore despite it not even being halloween.
i dont blame the employees at all and i sincerely hope the company has changed for the better since they decided not to offer contraceptive healthcare for their employees based on not being able to comprehend gradeschool level science (or read apparently) and illegally imported thousands of ancient artifacts looted from Iraq, twice
so tl;dr: not bad. store could easily be better but is tainted by it's well-earned reputation and bad...
Read moreMarch 20th was my first and last time in this store. I went in for some vinyl upholstery material for a project. I’ve never been in this store before, it’s fairly large, and I was on a bit of a time constraint. So I did a quick scan of the store for about a minute and could not find what I was looking for. I thought I could simply find an employee and ask them.
I ended up find a woman whose name I did not get. She looked to be in her 40’s or 50’s with short blonde hair at the back of the store. I said hello to her and asked her where the vinyl is for upholstery needs. She then tells me “the fabric section”. Wow I had no idea, thank you for that wealth of knowledge. I then asked her “where would that be?” So she walked me to the end of the aisle we were in, pointed, and said “uh, on that entire side of the store.” Condescending tone the entire time. Mind you the “entire side of the store” was actually a small section that can be easily missed if you don’t walk up the right side of the store. Instead of raising a stink I told her thank you and went on my way.
Horrible experience and they didn’t have any of the vinyl I needed so it seems like my trip’s only purpose was to inflate the ego of this employee. The attitude of the woman was all I need to know I’ll...
