Prior to the COVID 19 situation that shut everything down, we ordered a dishwasher, microwave, stove, and refrigerator from this company through our contractor who was doing a kitchen remodel at our place of business. The company called us and said all of our appliances were in and they would hold them for us when things opened up and would schedule delivery. When our contractor called to schedule the delivery he was told they no longer had our refrigerator and that it is now backordered for 3 weeks. So I called to find out what happened and they told me that yes all of our appliances had been there but they sold our refrigerator to someone else. I expressed my dissatisfaction with them about the situation and the impact of them selling our refrigerator. Our contractor who was out of work for months now cannot get paid for completion of this project due to their mistake and the backorder of the refrigerator. The person I spoke with just said yes we know and did not offer any apology, etc. for the situation. In fact, she said mistakes happens as this was a normal occurrence. There was no offer of them trying to find the refrigerator somewhere else at their cost or offering us a discount, etc. This is very unprofessional and there are too many other appliance places that operate in a more reliable and professional manner. If I could cancel our entire appliance order without impacting my contractor even more, I would do so in a heartbeat. ...
Read moreMy husband and I came in to the store to purchase specifically a Viking range top and exhaust. Upon arrival, we were the only customers in the store and we were barely greeted. During the selection process, we were provided with very little assistance to help determine which range model would be a good fit for our kitchen remodel and cooking needs. We were not made aware of the Viking "buy one get one free" limited time promotion, which would have been a significant savings for us, until I asked about the promotion to the sales person. The salesperson took his time to look up the promotion information, during which time he took a phone call from another customer that took at least 10 minutes. At no time did he apologize to us for the delay or ask if he call the person back. It wasn't until another salesperson arrived, when the person "helping" us began to acknowledge our questions about the different Viking products and which ones were included in the promotion. Ultimately, he didn't have any pricing information and said his daughter (?) would email my husband. We never received an email and the promotion has most likely ended. We never contacted/followed-up with the store because it felt like the person "helping" us didn't want our business as an African-American couple. We budgeted to spend between 3,500-5,000 on the range and we will gladly spend it at another Viking retailer who wants...
Read moreWe contacted Mumma on Friday (5/30) to inquire about the GE stove model #GGS600AVFS. A sales lady quoted us $1,100 installed (plus tax), which we felt was reasonable—especially considering the stove's regular price is $1,649 and it was on sale for $949. The $1,100 included installation and hauling away the old unit, so we planned to place our order in person the next morning.
However, when we stopped by the store on Saturday, an older gentleman informed us that the stove was $1,600 and that we had been quoted incorrectly. While we understand that mistakes happen, we pointed out that GE had the stove discounted to $949 and that LH Brubaker—just down the road on trindle—had it listed for $948.99. His response was simply, “No, it’s $1,600,” with no interest in discussing or honoring the previous quote. After we said we needed to think it over, he walked away. So did we.
We immediately went to LH Brubaker and ordered the exact same gas stove without issue.
We originally chose to visit Mumma to support a local small business rather than a big-box retailer like Home Depot or Lowe’s. Unfortunately, the poor customer service we received made that impossible. In today’s economy, it's surprising—and disappointing—to see a business so willing to let a sale walk...
