My daughter had been wanting makeup to go back to school for her first year of middle school. I wanted to make sure she had the right makeup and good quality makeup so we visited the Sephora department in the JC Penney in Harrisonburg, Virginia this past Saturday, November 14th to get some help with this. We were greeted by a nice young lady named Tori and she was wonderful! She took the time to work with us and find the right shades and brands for Genevaās skin tone. She walked Geneva through how to apply it and how to take care of her skin to prevent blemishes. She helped find some primer, concealer, mascara, and a light eye shadow pallet. She took her time finding the best products without costing us a lot of un-necessary expense since this was Genevaās first time using makeup. She offered advice for the next purchase if this was something Geneva was going to stick with (you know how girls can change their minds). So this morning following Toriās instructions we applied the makeup and it was PERFECT! Geneva was so pleased and she looked so natural. She beamed from ear to ear as she got ready for school. Most would label her a tomboy and that would be pretty accurate, but as she dressed in her softball gear her makeup added that little sparkle and boosted her confidence as it should. Tori was wonderful and knew exactly what we needed. We will be returning to see Tori for more products and tips for Geneva and maybe even this Momma will step up my makeup game. The fitting rooms were all closed and blocked off, except for 2 stalls in the fitting room in the menās department. I asked to have a room opened, and was told by a female employee that the night manager had closed all of the fitting rooms, except for the 2 stalls in the menās department, that were full of men. I asked her to get the night manager so she could unlock a room for me. The very unprofessional night manager, dressed in a black hoodie, says that she did lock all of the rooms and I can wait until something comes available in the MENāS department. I was expected, as a woman, to try on clothes in the menās department that was full of men. Obviously this girl needs further training before she takes on any management position, and the person who decided that she was ready and able to successfully perform management duties shouldāve made sure that she completed Customer Service 101 before acting in such capacity. I was in retail management for over 10 years, and this is unacceptable. You simply donāt lock up all of the fitting rooms more than 30 minutes before closing and then deny a lifelong customer access and expect her to try on clothes in the menās department. We have spent countless amounts of money in JCP over the last 30 years, but no more. This is why JCP keeps having financial trouble. The customer service is awful and you canāt get in touch with anyone to make them aware of the experiences.
