I've been a member now for a year, and there are a lot of good things about this gym and a couple close deal breakers. Pros: Its almost never super busy, and it has a pool (although great to swim the water does seem a little murky most of the time which makes me wonder how often they clean it) - those are the main pros. Its also very friendly - lots of friendly staff that know your name and greet you and friendly gym goers. I also think the trainer I had, Roxy, was a pro. They have a snazzy work out room with a fancy video setup, and the spin class area looks modern as well. The Cons/downsides, mainly the sauna. Folks, it's impressive around here to find a gym with both a pool and sauna and you think you've scored! However the dry sauna is outdated, doesn't get that hot around 120-140 degrees fahrenheit (should be around 160-170 degrees), and the wet sauna is still broken I think. The dry sauna is small, and the wood is nasty and smelly from all the sweaty people over the years, it is very drafty as it doesn't provide a good seal around the door, and it also closes early everyday at 7pm, so its not the luxurious after workout experience you think it will be. Soooo many complaints have been made about the sauna, but their star feature has been given little upgrade attention. Members found little ways to trick the system to make it hotter, but then signs went up threatening automatic membership revoking if anyone is caught doing that. The low heat sauna is tragedy really, because it would be a really low bar for a competitor to offer something slightly better for a similar price point and have members jump ship.
Update: they have since put in magnets to hold the sauna door closed so there is less draft and it does get hotter. I wish it didn't take them a year to do this. Getting fixes or equipment replacements seems to take a lot longer than they ever should.
Pricing: it's pricey considering fixes and improvements take forever and will cost you to use a lot of energy to keep asking for them. The black Friday deal seems to be the best price to join if you pay for the full year it took my monthly to $50/mo. Normally they charge about $100/no in any normal non...
Read moreI am a physician visiting from the states for a week and the club offers a week long visitor pass which was super convenient and honestly the reason I chose to come here.
I tend to do some moderate cardio and largely weightlifting/bodybuilding style workouts so if you are looking for pilates/zumba/class type info I'm not going to be helpful.
Things I liked:
front desk was super courteous adam and a young female always checked me in during the morning and despite just being a visitor pass they actually did learn my name which was a super nice touch.
it has an old school feel with lots and lots of plate loaded machines two large cable stations with a smaller cable station and a large free weight section. Squat racks were great, benches were a little narrow for my taste but all the barbells were 28.5mm diameter not 31 which I really really liked - plates are all standard olympic style iron plates which I like - plenty of equipment
cardio space is tighter and limited which I prefer, leaves more room for the plethora of machines
some crossfitish type stuff, rings for ring dips and bands for assisted pull ups and dips and warmup/crossover symmetry stuff
Great overall gym, staff was super friendly, clientele is very friendly
I didnt use any of the sauna/steam room/class amenities so I cant...
Read moreOur vacation rental property told us that the club did luggage storage, which was such an appreciated service! It was about $7 a bag. It's not a secure storage room, the bags are just put in the managers open office just to the right of the front door. But the facility is locked and you need a code to get in, so we felt safe with them being there. The manager was very friendly and welcoming. We also ended up buying a shower pass for $22 per person which was convenient because after we dropped our bags off we went on some adventuring for the day before our red-eye flight so we got to be nice and clean before getting on the plane. The gym is huge! I will say though, the showers are pretty disgusting and I would not recommend doing a shower pass without flip-flops. The little plastic rugs are covered in bacteria and smell of mold. The entire locker room in bathrooms just need a serious renovation in general. Only use the showers if absolutely necessary! Otherwise, the bag storage is an awesome solution for late...
