Dolphin Spit Saloon — Restaurant in Hawaii

I came to this bar with my boyfriend so that we can have a drink, mind you the reason we chose this bar is because they were playing Raggae music which symbolizes peace and love. For context, my boyfriend is Jamaican.

So, we sat at the bar, he ordered a drink. Unfortunately, since I left my ID at home I was not allowed to order a drink (understandbly). However, I stayed at the bar sitting with him.

A few minutes later he decided that he wanted to smoke a cigarette so we moved to the smoking section of the bar so he could smoke while he enjoyed his drink.

After we moved to the smoking section, mind you, at this point which was greater than 15 minutes after we got to the bar, another employee came up to us and stated that I have to leave the bar because I don't have a physical copy of ID and said that my boyfriend can't smoke in the smoking section.

My question to him was why wasn't this disclosed to us before my boyfriend ordered his drink? He obviously doesn't want to sit at a bar and drink a drink alone while his girlfriend is sitting outside the bar (Alone).

Given this, I asked for compensation since this wasn't disclosed from the beginning which was denied. The whole time he kept saying "I'm just doing my job". That didn't mean anything to me because you can't pick and choose when you want to do your "job". You should have done your job from the beginning and asked me to leave when you knew I didn't have a physical copy of my ID.

I say this to say, I felt targeted, uncomfortable, and embarrassed.

I will never come back to this establishment. You guys need to change the type of music you are playing because the energy that you are emulating does not represent peace, love,...

I love this place. It’s definitely a local dive… But not all ‘Hawaiian local’, more haole resident type. That’s totally ok, go where you wanna go. It’s sorta ‘Cheers’ vibe with ups and downs. Tonight, along with many others, I had a really good time. Just came off boat shift, was starving but needed a drink too. Evan, my mostly usual bar tender(usual means I see him like once or twice every couple weeks) took total care of me. Small favor but fed me his last crab wonton… I know that sounds like a who cares…. But it saved me from my poor choices and physically passing out from poor nutrition…I don’t mean I was drunk….i just worked two jobs super hard and didn’t have anywhere to eat in between….cuz Hawaii…not a lot options. Point is, he gave a small care and I didn’t die. In this world we live, the bar is in hell and I’ll take his sharing is caring offer...

$11 for a draft local beer from across the parking lot! Well, I guess I’ve ordered it, I had no idea it’s going to cost me this much. Normally I prefer draft for their fresher taste and lower price, NOT in this establishment! My next beer was a Longboard Lager in a can for $3.75 Yeah! Figure that out. Well, I’ve tried and asked for a drink/beer menu just to hear: “We have beers in the fridge that you can see, liquors on the shelf that you can see also...” and he listed the drafts because it’s hard to see them with bright lights behind it !! I’ll let you figure out your opinions... I wish I’ve gotten a receipt but that was a wishful thinking.
