After a quick/unscheduled departure from home due to snow forecasts on the mainland, I had not had the opportunity to get a pedicure at my normal salon as planned. Desperate for a foot makeover (seeing as it had been months since Iâd last really given any thought to open toed shoes) I had stressed a bit about where to go in Kona, since we were without a car during our first few days in town. Reviews of just about any place nearby were not good.
After much deliberation, including considering not getting a pedicure at all due to poor reviews, I settled on Trixx Salon, which was just a short walk from the Courtyard King Kamehameha where we were staying. I called ahead and made an appointment for 3. The gentleman on the phone didnât ask for my name, but took my âappointmentâ just the same.
I arrived a minute or two before 3 and while when I walked in felt a little lost since there isnât a clear âdeskâ to direct attention to, my appointment was acknowledged and I was quickly attended and directed to one of 6 lushly appointed massaging pedicure chairs.
The staff here is obviously close with each other. Lots of friendly chatter (in English and occasional pigeon) among them. Each employee seems to be in charge of their own tools and lotions/gels/etc. many employees seem to have regulars. They used liners in each of the pedicure basins. I felt that the tools they used were clean, however I didnât actually see them being cleaned so canât verify that for sure.
Overall I enjoyed the experience. Iâll admit the pedicure took longer than the speedy/efficient ones I normally get at home. But the staff here seemed to enjoy their jobs a little bit more, which in turn made it that much...
Read moreBad experience! As a tourist, I just stopped at the first place I saw, as my nails needed a fresh polish. It was not a good service and I did not feel welcome! The technician started the manicure âdryâ; no water bowl or cuticle lotion remover. As it was hurting when pushing back a dry cuticle, I asked to use the typical cuticle remover liquid, and he acted bothered.
I had to be asking him to trim the cuticle, to cover spots with the polish, to even out the edges with polish (no success) and he did not clean up the extra polish on my cuticles.
They charge extra for paying with card, even though thereâs a little sign that reads âSave if you pay with cashâ but does not say âextra chargeâ if paying with card. I wouldnât have minded paying extra for a good job. Posting 5 minutes after walking out to show...
Read moreI called early in the morning to schedule a 4:00 appointment for a pedicure and manicure. Took my name and number down and confirmed appointment. I showed up 8 minutes before my appointment and no one wanted to help me. A guy working there told another worker hereâs your appointment and she said I donât have an appointment she checked the book and she said again I donât have an appointment. So I said âI did make a 4:00pm appointment but if you donât want to help me thatâs fine I will go find another salon.â So I did..... thank you Maryâs Spa Nails & Hair. Pretty awful Trixx Salon and Spa.... completely...
