This bookstore was an absolute delight to wander through. We were immediately greeted by a dark gray cat (Zora)—modest yet friendly—which set such a cozy tone. The second cat was had an adorable white coat but happened to be in a mood. Not unfriendly though.
I originally came in hoping to find one book for my niece but left with three! She’s a big fan of oversized picture books about nature, dinosaurs, science, and more. These beautifully designed books, with their vivid illustrations and fascinating facts, are a wonderful way to spark her curiosity and introduce new topics. She’s already fallen in love with the two large-format books I picked up for her in the past from a kids toy and book store in LA. Copperfield Books also wrapped the books for me with cutest wrapping paper.
Beyond children’s books, the store has a wonderfully diverse selection. I was pleased to find shelves filled with cookbooks, locally made gifts, thoughtful baby gift ideas, and a wide range of other genres. They even carry puzzles and activity books for kids, which make perfect presents.
I was also thrilled to see their selection of puzzles and activity books for kids—such perfect gift ideas. Stores with this kind of thoughtful variety, especially in those hard-to-find oversized formats, are a real treasure.
Overall, it’s a well-rounded, thoughtfully curated bookstore—charming, welcoming, and full of treasures...
Read moreGreat store, terrible people. Store employee accuse people of shoplifting base on appearance.
After a wonderful dinner with the Fam, we decided to check out this beautiful bookstore. Didn’t really see any books I wanted but still wanted to support local business. So I got a calendar and paid for it at the register.
As we were leaving the store, one of the employees literally chased us and said loudly “DID YOU PAY FOR THAT?” I explained that I paid at the register and she is welcome to check with the employee at the register. Even as we went inside and confirmed that I actually paid for the calendar, not a single thank you or acknowledge as to what she has just done. Having spent half an hour in the store, no a single other patrons were stopped.
Simply say, can I see your receipt or explain to the customer afterwards why you are stopping them but not all the other patrons is a bare minimum for a store that is all about community and knowledge.
Words matter, especially for bookstores.
At the end of the day, the business can of course ask to see the receipt. However, when you start by accusing someone of stealing, that is called profiling. I don’t fit the typical description of their customers but that is no way a ground to suspect me of shoplifting.
Beautiful books but can’t say the same about people...
Read moreOMG!! This bookstore!!! I was visiting the area and Googled bookstore, drove a half hour to it and, may I say, well worth the drive!!! I could have stayed there for hours.
The store was well organized. There were books with personal recommendations and why that were located throughout the store. There were several books that were signed by the authors, and the prices were the same as the ones that were not signed. There were gift items placed throughout the store. The staff was friendly. I mean, I could go on and on. Run to this bookstore. It is...
