Giant Eagle Supermarket — Local services in Hempfield Township

The only reason this is getting 2 stars is because they do have fresh food and I've never found anything expired there so the actual grocery part of it is fine but my god are the cashiers absolutely awful. They hire 16-18 year olds that talk to each other and don't even acknowledge your existence when you're in the line to check out. I've been to this Giant Eagle at least 100 times since they hired the people they have now and it's the same every time with all of them. They hired all these these young kids who don't say hello to you in line, they don't even LOOK at you, they talk to their coworkers about the latest gossip you don't need to be listening to and you just stand there like a ghost. It's so unprofessional and obnoxious. Like it isn't that hard to just say hello and shut up with your friend for two seconds. You're working. Act like it. I get it's cheap labor but the management needs to teach these kids to provide the absolute BARE minimum in customer service. Say hello, ask me if I have an advantage card, tell me my total, and some sort of "have a nice day" or just a goodbye. That's it. This giant eagle is a very tiny step up from a Dollar General in terms of fresh food selection. It's the smallest selection of fresh vegetables and fruits and meats and bakery items I've ever seen in a full-sized grocery store. There were about a half dozen fresh chicken items available, they all appeared to have been frozen and water condensation was pooling inside the wrapping. I didn't trust the look of any of it. The bakery had about six ready made cakes to choose from -- not six varieties, six total. I don't like this place at all. The minute I walk in they have the biggest security cameras I have ever scene. I feel like I'm a criminal and I'm being watched. I doubt if there are criminals that go there because the food selection is not that good. Whenever I go in there I can't seem to be able to put my discount phone number in. They say it's down sometimes. They hide it likes its a secret. The workers seem to be too fast and don't take the time to ask you if you need help with anything. Very unfriendly.
