Didn't even get a chance to shop. My mother and grandson were walking towards the shoes. I was still by the door looking at jewelry when I heard someone yelling "That's it! Stop! and it made me look up wondering who is yelling at their kid like that. When I looked down the aisle I realized she was yelling at my 4 yr. old grandson. I walked over and ask her to please address the adults and we'll deal with our kids. She immediately started screaming at me "He scared me. He was shaking this (referring to the post that identifies the type of clothing in that section). She continued "Would you rather I let the sign fall on him?" I said no, but there is a way you should talk to someone else's kid and don't yell at my grandkid like that again. As I was walking away she yelled "if you don't like it you can leave the store." I walked back and asked her what she said just to be sure. She repeated it and further stated she yelled at him because she was scared. I said I got that. I told the rest of my family what was going on and that I was leaving. While standing outside waiting for everyone she came outside and smoke a cigarette with her coworker. I said nothing to her. Next thing I know the police pulled up. I thought surely she didn't call the police on me. She did. She met the officer inside the store. I stood outside until my daughter heard her tell the officer I threatened her. I walked in and she was telling him I was in her face screaming at her. I asked her if I threatened her and she said she felt threatened because I was in her face going back and forth with her. I called her a liar and walked back outside. The officer said he told her since I was leaving there was nothing to be done. I told him she was not telling the truth. I never raised my voice, never cussed at her or threatened her. She was definitely out of line. She called the police on me in front of my children, grandchild, niece and parents. We are respectable people ... My Dad has over 40 yrs on the police force, my mother is a Director at public housing, my daughter works for the state and I have over 25 yrs working with at risk adolescents. We would never conduct ourselves in the way she was describing me to the police. All we wanted to do was spend some money in their store. There was seven of us and all of us we would have came out with lots of bags, especially since it was my birthday. I cannot believe that an organization as well known as Burlington would allow there employees to handle their customers in such a disrespectful and unprofessional manner. It was as if she was trying to escalate an incident to justify her actions. It wasn't the fact she was trying to keep my grandson from getting hurt, although my mother was with him and she didn't see him in any danger by shaking the post. Why would their sign post be so weak that it would topple when a 4yr old touched it? Why would she yell "That's it! Stop it! That doesn't would like a natural response when you think a child is in danger. Most importantly, why would she lie to the police about how I acted? I plan to contact corporate to file a complaint and ask them to check their cameras. I hope she doesn't treat anyone else like that. We will never go in this store again. I still can't believe she called...
Read moreOn 03/29/23 My friend and I stopped in before closing time to grab some items. I specifically went in for bedding and left with bedding. Once inside, we noticed a female employee speaking to the male employee with glasses. I immediately noticed the attitude between the two employees. The male watched us the entire time and instead of offering any assistance, he rudely reminded my friend and I of the store closing.
When I was obviously in the process of checking out, the employee continued to stare as if I was doing something wrong. At this point, the store was closed but I was closing out my transaction. However, my friend was not yet in line at the time during my checkout.
I mentioned to the cashier how the other employee was staring at me. What was I going to do stuff a 5 piece comforter set in my jacket and walk out without purchasing it? Clearly this employee had an underlying issue with my presence in the store. I felt targeted by these employees and unwelcomed. However, I have shopped several times in the past at various locations while being followed and watched so this was nothing new for me. I found the microaggressions of these two employees both unprofessional and immature.
This location closes at 10pm on Wednesdays, if there is an issue with this closing time, then the hours of operation should be changed to fit the needs of the two employees, a personal change in scheduling or training to educate these workers concerning good work ethics should be mandated. The actions displayed by the employees will NOT prevent us from shopping at this location in the future. I intended on purchasing one item and nothing more.
Despite our negative experience while shopping here today, the cashier was pleasant and very kind. She closed out our purchases in a timely manner and was efficient...
Read moreAbsolutely pitiful selection. Looked for khaki pants for my 9yo daughter, all the have are random sweatpants, and like 4 pairs of jeans. Looked for clothes for myself and their plus size section is a literal two rows of 1x and then xl(which isn’t plus size, thanks!) there was a selection of maybe 12 inches of rack that was supposed to be 2x or 3x. Of course there were no size 10-11 shoes for women because there never are. I also was looking for rewashable masks because my kids school is still mandating them, of which I found one 6pack style for girls and one 6pack style for boys otherwise they aren’t carrying them (this is what I’ve been finding at every store that was carrying them by the boatload before) lots and lots of men’s clothes though, maybe they should change the name to men’s factory— it over takes like an entire third of their store. It’s only January in Pennsylvania but there were only a plethora of coats in size small. Little to nothing in bigger sizes and a singular ripped jacket marked down to 10 bucks in 3x. Giant...
