Mango Tree Supermarket — Local services in Homestead

I rarely write reviews, but today I was very disappointed with this store. First, when I entered the supermarket, I smelled a very strong fishy smell. When I bought the fish, the fish was far away from me. The waiter helped me pick out a rotten fish, which we didn't notice. She helped us remove the scales, cleaned it, put it in a bag and handed it to me. I didn't check whether the fish was fresh. When I was about to tip her, I noticed a sign that said they didn't accept tips, so I didn't tip. We also bought shells. Finally, I saw four flies on the bread that was ready but not packaged on the bread rack next to the counter... The disgusting thing happened after I got home. The distance from the supermarket to home was only Ten minutes later, when we took the fish out, I smelled a very strong stench. The fish was rotten. My husband tried to clean it and cut it open, but it still smelled rotten. We immediately threw it away. We didn't have time to take pictures, and we couldn't eat it for lunch. It was so smelly. There was an unknown sticky liquid on the fish. My husband repeatedly washed his hands several times, but the rotten smell still remained. He finally used lemon to clean it. Even after seven hours, my kitchen still smelled of fish. It was horrible. In addition, the shells are not fresh. After cooking, they have a fishy smell, the meat is yellow, and there is an unpleasant smell. I know this is a new supermarket, but I wonder how the managers here manage seafood food safety. Do they really need the health department to intervene so that they can prioritize customer food safety? In the end, I'm glad I didn't tip her. As an employee, how could she not know the fish was rotten when she was cleaning it? Furthermore, I will seriously consider whether I will ever go to this store again. My kids grew up with food town in Pembroke pines. Was excited to hear they were putting one down here in Homestead. The options of food and snacks are there, BUT mango had a real issue. Any packed fruit, snacks or anything packed be aware that you will most likely get OLD, STALE AND molded fruits. Last time we went, their display of strawberry was all moldy, All 12 packs. Super friendly staff. They say hi to you as soon as you enter the supermarket and also are ready to help you. Great variety of items from different cultures. It will be great to experience them and finding out ways to use them. But I need to agree and that's why I gave them only four star, the smell is horrible. I don't know if that is the way it supposed to smell when there is life seafood. I'm not a seafood eater nor I am a seafood or a beach person. So I don't know it's supposed to smell like that, but...
