Place is nice n clean, its more of a park than a beach. Good for get togethers, BBQ or just to hangout n enjoy the scenery.. The bay itself have numerous watersports like canoeing, jetsking, kayaking, surfing, snorkeling, parasailing etc...by businesses operating from the marinas. However, the highlight of this beach park and the reason i go there besides some fishing is because I believe this is the only place during low tide that you can walk out pretty far out onto the reefs that are mostly made up of sand. I've even seen people walk with their dogs out there. Its Awesome!

Located on the ocean coastline fronting the lush green valleys of Hawaii Kai, this is my go neighborhood stop to enjoy a morning latte from near by Island Brew for sunrise, a quick lunch stop at a shaded picnic table or a casual sunset “to go” dinner to enjoy the arriving glow of Hawaii’s beautiful sunset sky.

I mean, it’s a beach in Hawaii so it’s hard to give it less than that, but it was the rockiest of all the beaches I went to during my week on Oahu. It’s a real locals spot and not the place to go surfing, but if you want a chill day in some calm waters with some stunning views, Maunalua Bay has it.

A MUST go to spot if visiting Hawaii. Get there early! The parking lot has only 300 spots and they fill up quick. Opens at 7:00am. Parking lot is fully by 7:30-8:00. If parking lot is fully, you are forced to park at the bottom of the hill in a residential neighborhood and walk. NOT a fun walk. Especially on a hot day. Parking lot entry price is $1 for the car. You read that right (one dollar). To get into the Bay itself, is less than $10 per person. Stay as long as you want. There is a shuttle you can take to get down to the water/beach. It's only $2.50 per person. The walk DOWN isn't bad but after a day of swimming/snorkeling/diving, you probably don't care to walk back up the steep thing!

You must watch a video that gives a brief history of the Bay. It's 9...

Stopped here to eat our lunch and it was a great stop to feel the breeze and wait out traffic. The parking lot is large and we didn't have any issues finding a good spot along the water to relax and enjoy our lunch on our tailgate. Great spot for staring at the ocean and enjoying the fresh air! The beach is a bit rocky closer to where boats can be deployed - but if you proceed to the edges of the beach park - there are small areas of grass and picnic benches. Great spot for BBQ's if you're lucky enough to snatch a table and find parking.

Although this visit was strictly just eating lunch and avoiding traffic, which it served it's...

Visited this park as part of island tour of Honolulu. Narrow park with beach and ocean views. Not many people there and several people in water using water scouters. Noisy as it is beside the main highway to coastal beaches on the southeast of Oahu. Nice view, may not be great for longer stops. The bay is beautiful with clear blue reflection. This is a popular spot for motorized craft such as jet sky. It is right across the highway from the Hawaii Kai town centre mall. You can pick up food for your picnic at Costco or one of the restaurants located in the mall. As to earlier comments of not safe, you should not be taking valuables to...
