Diamond Head Community Garden — Local services in Honolulu

I submitted my interest in joining the waitlist for this community garden via the City & County website and was told to join the waitlist in person at the next monthly meeting. When I arrived today and asked if I was in the right place, a woman named Heidi rudely told me that I couldn’t join the waitlist and I should have come an hour before the meeting started and all the plots are taken. When I explained that I was simply trying to join the list of people waiting for the next open plot and that I was told by the C&C employee that oversees all Community Gardens, to join the waitlist in person, Heidi said “Well I didn’t contact you and I don’t know who you are, so you must have gotten the wrong information.” I will never return and wouldn’t encourage anyone else to attempt to join this Community Garden due to how rude that woman was. The whole point of the Community Garden program is to foster the love of gardening and give likeminded people a shared space, not act like you’re better than them and dismiss potential new members because you did not want to follow the official City & County regulations...

Love the garden an assortment of flowers and fruits and veggies All nice people Only been accosted once by an older lady for accessing the park thru the garden ( no other way ) with my dog She raised her fist like she was gonna hit me , then thought twice as I am 6 feet 220 pounds That was werid especially since lots of dog owners have to walk thru the garden to get to the park from Pualei circle ...

Girlfriend and I walked through here and it’s a treasure. Took a bazillion photos of the lovely things people are growing. It’s an oasis. What a happy find. Thank you for creating such a sweet...
