Hawaii Beach Time — Local services in Honolulu

HORRIBLE communication. I've rented from them 2-3 times before and had a great experience so I understand the good reviews here but I'm incredibly offended by their lack of communication this time. I wanted so badly to support a small business during COVID but wow this was a level of unprofessionalism I have never experienced.

My boyfriend and I have been trying to rent one board since Sunday and today it is Friday and we have STILL been unable to confirm our rental. I called Sunday and received a text in response to my call. They told me to text at this number for questions and reservations. I have been trying to set up my reservation ever since via text but the responses have been little to none. On Wednesday my boyfriend even e-mailed them, but it's been two days and still no response. Their main phone number just goes to voicemail, so then we tried to call the phone number we had been texting but someone answered saying "you have the wrong person", even though hours later they would respond to my text with the same number.

We were really excited to stand up paddle board this week but now we won't be doing it anymore. I'm very disappointed. The communication was seriously the most unprofessional I've ever experienced. All I wanted was to rent one board. I don't know why they're not interested in doing so, or it's fine if they are not able to but they should have communicated that to me instead of leaving me on read on and off for the...

We were in Waikiki for a week and rented beach chairs and umbrellas from Hawaii Beach Time for the entire time. It is a much better deal than renting from the hotel. Moreover we could take the chairs and umbrellas to other beaches any time we wanted. Love chairs and umbrellas, made by Tommy Bahamas, high quality, light weight, very functional with large pockets for personal stuff and insulated liner pockets for foods and cold drinks, also having straps for back carrying. We put beach towels and other stuff in the folded chairs and carried everything on our back, super convenient. The umbrellas have cork screws which bite into the sand much easier, but have plastic spikes which could break when the high wind flips them, a design weakness by manufacturer, but Hawaii Beach Time replaced them same day. When I am on vacation I am always weary about what companies to go with for activities etc because you never know what you will get without prior knowledge. My main concerns are price, and customer service/reliability. Hawaii Beach Time far exceeded my expectations. Drew is so personable and the kind of guy who you can trust and rely on. He goes above and beyond to make sure you have no unanswered concerns. His knowledge of the islands and way of life in Hawaii is impressive and reassuring.
