Jenny's Lei Shop — Local services in Honolulu

I was scrambling at the last minute in the mid-afternoon, and had shopped everywhere in Chinatown for lei. Found these guys right on Beretania.

-SELECTION: What caught my eye were some of the unusual flowers they used and their super reasonable prices. You just don't see Jade flowers (yes, the Jade Flower is naturally greenish blue--thick and meaty but gorgeous, it looks almost alien). They also had puakenikeni flower lei, one of the few lei that should never be refrigerated. Those are hard to come by nowadays, usually found on Big Island. It has one of the most unique smells!

-VALUE: Their prices were incredibly good, way better than some of the overhyped flower shops further down Maunakea. And their flowers looked fresher, bigger, and Fuller.

-CUSTOMER SERVICE: When she asked if I was going to the airport now or later in the day (it was later), she put every lei in its own protective & recyclable clamshell case so they stayed nice. (Other shops will just put it in a plastic bag and your lei gets ruined.)

Melinda was super helpful and sweet, and took care of me. I asked all kinds of questions, and she was so amazing. She even wished my friends well on their wedding. Behind her, all the aunties were stringing lei, so I'd guess you could request lei to order if you needed something other than what was in the case.

-PARKING (hey, it's Chinatown): Park right in front of the shop on Beretania, on the left & easily zoom right back onto Beretania when you leave. Or, go around the block and park on the other side of the block. Got to be super fast, because there's very little street parking in Chinatown. Avoid the municipal lots or the park and pay nearby--the park and pay lots are super expensive w/a 2-hour minimum and the muni lots are hard to get in and out of.

-CONVENIENCE: Bonus - - they're open 7 days a week, from 7:30 in the morning till 7 at night except for Sundays, when they close at 5. Really convenient!
