Oahu Pelagic Sportfishing — Local services in Honolulu

I was visiting my parents in Honolulu for the week and searched for a charter last minute. We are still on island and know that our 2hr bottom fish charter is the highlight of our trip.

(1) they were very responsive with my phone calls and emails. I was able to book easily online. (2) felt very safe with their covid protocols. Everyone had masks and they turned over the ship between trips. Everyone had masks (except for our quick photo ops!). (3) they were very attentive and helpful to six anglers, ranging from four years old to seventy-five. Two of which have never fished before. Mark, Kito, & Snyder were the friendliest guides and hosts. My mom was concerned about being seasick, and they talked with her to help us to decide to take the gamble and go for it. She smiled and fished the whole time! I did not realize the boat itself had a cabin that you could walk into, which the little ones did a few times to have their snacks. (4) all we brought was water (which they had an icy cooler for), lots of snacks for the kids, and sunscreen. They had all the fishing gear and life jackets for the kids. Parking in the pier parking lot was no problem for the 0830 charter. (5) besides fishing, you cannot beat seeing Oahu / Waikiki from the water. It’s two experiences in one! (6)the two hours went by in minutes. Considering there’s a small cabin for the kids to take a break from the sun, I would’ve booked a back to back charter.

Initially my family booked a sunset cruise with a different company and after having a few hiccups and some difficulty with getting in contact with them, I happened to call the phone number on the sign at the docks. Crystal from Honolulu Charter Fishing went above and beyond to get me in contact with the original company. She made sure to relieve our party of any stress by assuring that we would be able to experience the sunset. After a last minute cancellation with the original company (life happens and it’s totally understandable) Honolulu Charter Fishing was able to accommodate our group.

We had the greatest pleasure of having Captain Danny take us out into the water and provide us with the most memorable experience. Mickey was assisting him in making sure we were able to unplug and enjoy ourselves. They were the most professional and kind people we could have ever asked for. They shared stories of their family, heritage, and were extremely knowledgeable with the questions we asked about the island. Truly made us feel safe and comfortable to enjoy ourselves and be completely in the moment.

This is a memory our family will be able to associate with absolutely nothing but happy feelings and good vibes. I feel so fortunate to have connected with this company and I’m willing to bet you’d have a very similar experience.

Extremely unprofessional and complete disappointment for what should have been a special PRIVATE sunset boat ride.This company should stick to fishing because they do not know how to offer "a romantic night for two" as stated in their $400 listing.

When arriving at the boat we were met by 2 individuals, a male and a female. When we got on the boat we were then met by TWO more people. A total of 4 strangers on a tiny fishing boat for a private sunset cruise....

I did not know how many staff were needed so I tried to be understanding until realizing these two young women were college students that were there to "party and hang out on their day off". Word for word what one of the girls had told me. The two girls spent the first 15 minutes of the boat ride taking photos and sitting around chatting only to come down to the area my partner and I were standing in to chat with us about their lives for the rest of the ride. We completely missed the sunset and did not have a single moment to ourselves.

On top of that the male kept offering to take photos for us the entire ride, which sure could be nice if your into that but this is supposed to be private. At one point we handed the guy our phone and he began to take photos of us on his phone WITHOUT our permission. There was nothing private or romantic about this ride. There was also no place for us to sit as shown in photos. Would absolutely...
