A Heartfelt Mahalo to Tradewind Charters
We recently chartered a boat through Tradewind Charters for a memorial ash scattering for my father, and it was nothing short of magical. From the moment we departed Kewalo Harbor, Captain Mike made us feel at ease with his calm presence and deep respect for the ceremony we were there to perform.
The service was beautifully conducted with thoughtful touches, including traditional pu‘olo for the ashes. We gently released flower petals and biodegradable leis into the sea, watching them drift with the current as the silhouette of Diamond Head stood quietly in the background.
As if nature itself were paying tribute, a small pod of spinner dolphins appeared, gracefully swimming by just as we finished the ceremony. It felt like a blessing—pure, peaceful, and unforgettable.
Mahalo nui loa to Captain Mike and the entire Tradewind Charters team for managing the details, and helping us honor my father’s life in such a meaningful and authentic way. We will carry this memory in our...
Read moreBeware this company did not honor original contract. Our family scheduled a private "sunset Dinner SAILING cruise" for our father's birthday on the 4th of July. We had called and made arrangements a month prior. Two days before our scheduled cruise we get a text telling us that we were no longer going on a sail boat but a motorized catamaran that would have to depart earlier and return earlier because of coast guard regulations. They told us it was a better deal because the catamaran (made for holding large diving parties) held 45 people. We only had 8 adults and 3 kids and originally wanted a private setting for a family this is why we had reserved a a sail boat. So our original agreement was not honored. We received no sailboat, no sunset, and the "dinner" was frozen chicken wings and Costco veggies tray. As we returned another party was waiting to go after us and they got the sunset cruise. So the whole story of coast guard regulations bring the reason for early departure and no sunset cruise was...
Read moreOur family of 9 recently arranged a charter with Tradewinds Charters for a sailing catamaran experience during our stay on Oahu. We had an excellent crew on the charter. However, we were very disappointed to learn when we arrived at the marina that we were being switched to a powered catamaran that was basically a floating party barge. Although we were booked months in advance, Tradewinds Charters made no prior attempt to notify us of our change in the sailing experience for which we had paid. It should be noted that Tradewinds Charters knew that there was an issue with our reserved boat, the Sea Scape, about a month prior to our reservation date. Although we did have an excellent crew, we would not recommend using Tradewinds Charters for your charter experience...
