The boat was what I've come to expect when snorkeling in Mexico or Hawaii, a 60ish foot catamaran when dual netting in front and a seating interior. The tour operators were great, very nice and knowledgeable. We had ~16 or so others in the boat with us and it didn't feel crowded at all. Boxed lunchs with a bag of chips were provided. Two alcohol drinks included per person after the snorkel (you can purchase more if you'd like). L The snorkel gear was fine, obviously it sees heavy use. No issues with it. You have to wear manually inflating yellow vests in the water, which most people partially fill for extra buoyancy assistance. There is one, and only one, snorkel area. The location is incredibly packed. All tour operators congregate at this single spot, and anchor to submerged pylons or concrete blocks. Watching this area from the beach, there are always at LEAST six tour boats moored. It's about 300m straight offshore from the Hale Koa hotel. A reef, perhaps a 100mx100m and 30' deep. Fish and turtles come there to feed. We saw one very well blended in turtle floating slowly near the bottom. Nothing else to see. We got bored and headed back to the boat early. Wish the snorkeling had been better, but nothing to do about that.

We just did their sunset catamaran sail out of Waikiki area for my best friends birthday, and it was SO much fun!!! Captain Joey was super funny and got everyone pumped up to be there. Ronnie and Natalie were amazing. Not only were they doing crew/deckhand work but also bartending and socializing with all of us. They were such rad girls. We were really surprised by how good the food and drinks were. I often get a little seasick and while there was some inevitable rocking here and there, I didn’t get sick at all. Even though there were a lot of people on board. The boat was so spacious with so many different areas, it never felt crowded at all. I saw they also do fireworks and snorkel excursions so we will be back for those for sure. Be sure to book early! Some of our friends missed out because they decided to go too last minute and tickets were sold out. The price was super reasonable, especially when you factor in the food and drinks. I can’t wait to go sailing with Hawaii Nautical again!

Grateful to have discovered this experience back in 2022 when we first visited O'ahu. We've been on the 8am Saturday Whale Watching Tour three times since as we thoroughly enjoy the experience each and every time. Captain Greg and his crew are great and well-experienced. Bring cash for tips, Venmo is also available. Ask the crew questions about Hawaii, ocean life, and whales. The music is fun and energetic. All four trips we have seen at least one whale. This most recent trip we saw a mom and her baby multiple times. If you are coming from Waikiki and don't want to drive, there are bus stops nearby the Kewalo Basin. Currently, bus 20 and 42 will take you to Ala Moana Blvd & Ward Ave stop kiddy corner to the Kewalo Basin. $3 cash one way to ride. The public transit is literally called The Bus and bus routes are viewable on the Apple Maps clicking on "Transit Nearby."

I do NOT recommend! I had the unfortunate experience of the crew (Finn, Clay and Kiara) who were EXTREMELY unprofessional. Of all of them Clay was the best, but considering the circumstances that bar is LOW. First of all the listing should clarify that the boat is a catamaran, nothing wrong with that but when I think of cruise I expect something more sophisticated. Second, the crew. There is so much to mention that this is going to take a while. The unprofessionalism is unparalleled, NEVER have I experienced something like this. One of the crew members invited three people who had not PAID for the cruise; IF not more, the others I couldn't confirm. My package included appetizers and there were only FIVE appetizers of the THIRTEEN people that were there, not including the crew. That's unfair and frustrating. As we were getting further out onto the ocean there were more waves, which is expected of the ocean, but in order to have fun the driver (Finn) sped the boat up so that Clay and one of the non-paying guests could jump up higher than normal with the motion of the wave. Due to this my 65 year old mother, who had taken dramamine in preparation for the trip so she could enjoy it nausea free, had to throw up in her cup and proceeded to throw up for the rest of the cruise (this was thirty minutes into the trip). It is one thing to do that when all parties of the cruise have said go ahead however they did not ask or confirm that this would be happening. The friends they invited already smelled like alcohol and continued drinking and dancing to loud music in the cabin, which is fine in theory. However the crew KNEW that this was not helping my mother any more. I don't expect to be waited on hand and foot but when there's an obviously nauseous person who has already thrown up and is still doing so the volume of music could be turned down a tad. At some point I asked Finn to take my mother to the bathroom as I could not support her with the motions of the wave, as he was helping her up he was dancing and moving around to the music....again fine in theory but you have an obviously upset person hanging on to you that is relying on said stability. Not even two minutes after I let them leave I saw Finn in the cabin and I thought "OH GOD he left my mom unattended!" I had asked him to look after her and make sure that she made it out safe, which he agreed to, and yet I had to put down everything to take care of her. Which I am not complaining about, I like taking care of my mother and like being in charge of that but on a moving vessel that I am not on regularly my balance and abilities are limited. Third, the overall experience. There aren't many positives beside the view and air blowing through your hair. One other passenger we made friends with and she shared our views and opinions regarding the entire trip, she mentioned that she'd leave her own review. In reference to the appetizers very quickly; Kiara, when we asked her about them asked "Chips? Yeah, we have chips." And put the small chip bags that you buy for children and small lunch bags for work/other activities. AGAIN nothing wrong with that in theory, but when you hear appetizer you expect something fancier. Later on Clay mentioned that he had boxes of sliders for each of us, paying that is, and we could enjoy them inside the cabin. Due to the experience my mother, our new friend and I could not enjoy our "appetizers". Unfortunately, due to these events I could not enjoy my time on the boat. Which is why I do not recommend. I will be emailing triple A who helped organize this and letting them know, as well as the company Hawaii Nautical. I expect a full refund. If this is your sort of thing, go for it. But for me, a 21 year old helping my mother visit one of Tha last states she needs to have all 50 this is disappointing. Do with this information what you will.

Sincerely, Katherine S.

Booked a whale watch tour with Hawaii Nautical and left out of the Waianae Harbor yesterday. The water looked really choppy from the harbor and it was windy but I figured they would call it off if the water was too bad. I was wrong ....As soon as we left the harbor and barrier the waves got very rough. All the children started crying because they were scared. We had three kids in our party 6, 5, and 3 yo, all crying, I also saw older kids crying as well. At this point, the waves were huge and the boat was very unstable, I think any other crew would've turned around and called it. How could they have been so grossly neglegant? They had to have known that a large number of passangers we're going to get sea sick. My husband counted about 20 of the 30 passengers were sick. I got extremely sick and was vomiting the entire time. So sick that I couldn't even make sure that my children were safe. My 5-year-old is still vomiting today over 24 hours after being on that boat. None of them ever want to go on another boat again and are now terrified of going out on the water. To add insult to injury, the engine shut off about halfway through the rough water and they had to use the emergency shut off as if the boat stalled out. The crew got it back working after about 5 mins of scrambling around. Then started laughing and being unprofessional about it during an already horrible expierence. The water was leaking in all over the seams of the windows. There wasnt a dry spot in the cabin for anyone to sit. At the end of the tour the Captain said, "If you didn't get sick you should join the Navy". As if he was well-aware of how bad the conditions were out on the water. It was so miserable, what a waste of money.

The tour did spot a whale or two through all of the rain. I didn't care about seeing whales after all of that, I just wanted to make sure my family and...

Update Customer care has reached to me about this complain and offered 50% refund due to my experience. I updated my review to 3 star rating.

Original review*

The worst choice of my wonderful holiday was to go on a tour with this boat. The crew was very rude and they teased us directly. While my wife and I were sitting on the inside of the boat to take shelter from the wind for a couple minutes, a few dolphins were seen, and my wife asked our friend if they saw only dolphins or whales as well. (Because the name of this tour is whale watching tour) one employee from the crew imitated me and shouted at all the customers, saying "just Dolphin? Yeah JUST A DOLPHIN, just dolphin," she said. First of all I was talking with our friend not with you, secondly you can earn $0 tip with this sick attitude. I'm mentioning the Tip because, They had an oppressive attitude about tipping them and were constantly saying something about it. We were so uncomfortable and felt so bad. She literally ruined our day. She has blonde hair and seashell tattoo on her right arm. .(Maybe owner of the company can treat her with better salary, she looks like not motivated and so aggressive to deal with happy tourist). By the way don’t waste your money buying expensive tour which is whale seen guaranteed, you will not see any whale, if you are visiting the island just 3-4 days go with cheapest and if you see you see there is no guarantee at all. They offer me to one more time same tour, I couldn’t go because don’t wanna ruin another beautiful day with this crew. I want my...
