Ruckus Sportfishing and Diving — Local services in Honolulu

Learn from our mistake. Booked a 4 hour deep sea fishing trip with Rukus Sportsfishing and Diving. Headed out towards Diamond Head. 0 bites. Half way through the trip, our deck hand Ray goes up to the bridge and stays there for the remainder of the trip. No communication with us for the last half of the trip. After we got off the boat Captain Dillion told us we should have booked the 8 or 10 hour trip because they go to a different location. In my opinion, this 4 hour trip was just a $1000 money grab. Not a good fishing spot, 0 bites, and told after the trip to next time book a longer fishing trip so we could fish elsewhere.

We booked this trip months in advance and would have appreciated guidance in advance to make a more informed decision. If the 4 hour trip is not recommended, why offer it? And telling me I should have booked a different amount of time after we dock seems deceptive in my option. Save your money and do not book the 4 hour trip or book with a company that is a little more honest up front with what to expect. Would not recommend the 4 hour deep sea fishing trip...

Captain Ray and Cody took us on an excellent day of fishing. They were transparent at the beginning of the trip that recent days had not seen much action and the water may be choppy. Despite a lull to start the day, we enjoyed the views and learning more about the equipment and methods. The lull turned into quite the show of lines being manned left and right (at one point even center), we hauled in 15 total fish and even landed a short bill spearfish. No one can guarantee the fish will be biting, but I can say with full confidence that Ray and crew will do everything they can with their experience of the waters in this area to get you where the fish are and ensure you're comfortable and informed throughout the day. Don't bother with a half day charter, do the full day, bring plenty of drinks, water and food to enjoy with your companions and let Ruckus Fishing experts take the helm and treat you to a great adventure on...

We had an amazing time fishing with Captain Ray and deck hand Maddie. Both extremely kind and knowledgeable. They showed us the ropes, briefed us on safety and what to do when we get a fish on, and got us out in the ocean right away. We had a marlin on in the first hour, then consistently caught fish the rest of the day. We ended up with 4 different species and were the most successful boat in the harbor! Ruckus was also more affordable than other companies in the area. Can’t ask for more than that. Instructions before the trip were clear and Ray was very communicative. Would highly recommend and will be booking Ruckus next time...
