The employees are not always smiling and are not personable like another reviewer posted (called them a team and team members), who uses inside jargon like that unless they, or family, work at Costco.
They herd you through like cattle and you still stand in line a long time with people that must be feeding an orphanage. They throw your items at checkout. You get to waste more time standing in line on the way out. Some people bring their entire extended family for this ritual.
The employees are not hired for their personalities, just warm bodies like every other retail store, they all hire from the same pool of workers.
I had a membership desk employee be extremely disrespectful and nasty to me once while doing a return, I almost cancelled the membership.
Once a young male helping a cashier even insulted my choice of bed pillows very loudly in the crowded store (the pillows that Costco company picked to sale at Costco stores), he was standing there tossing them up in air and catching them about three or four times then when he was finished entertaining himself with my bed pillows he threw them like a basketball into the cart several feet away then just stared me with a rigid look...completely unhinged! I have never seen that at a Walmart.
I heard a female employee that was folding clothes make derogatory comments about a customers sexual orientation to one of the male managers and they both laughed. Totally classeless! This person paid for a membership to shop here and helps pay your bills, again, she said this to a "team leader"!
Once I was standing in line at the deli kiosks facing the deli and a female manager snapped at me from behind me wanting to know if I was waiting to pick up something from the locked room next to the deli area, I said no politely and she looked angry and confused, she just walked away with no apology or anything else said...what a team.
People loading their cars for 30 minutes stuffing in one item at a time with every door open. Sometimes you have to wait to get inside your car while they load enough items for a six month trip to Antarctica, one piece at a time! (No shopping bags).
Try contacting someone at Costco to complain about someone on the "team" and see how much they care. They don't care. I don't know if this is Costco's culture or just this store but something is off here. Contempt for the customers.
This store is clean and well stocked. You don't get any special treatment paying to shop here, just a clean store and discounts by buying in bulk quantities. I purchased the membership to purchase tires and a computer online, I regret the tire purchase and will not renew membership as I don't consume like an elephant and the hassle outweighs...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited the Costco at Hoover earlier today to purchase a few items. Among these items were three sets of SunBLK blackout curtains (note, these were picked from a display of 300+ of the same item) During check out these three sets of curtains would not scan, the supervisor, Lori, was called over to see why. In a very rude fashion Lori proceed to fumble around why I could not purchase these items (she obviously had no idea why). After showing her the ad she continued to argue saying they were returns and could not be sold. After this I ended up not buying them assuming it was some āread the fine printā thing ads do nowadays. After getting to the car and reviewing the ad and the sale I decided to go back in and try to purchase another three sets of curtains. Again, the item would not scan and Lori came over saying āI could not purchase these because they were online returnsā (she had her story this time around). When I argued that there is a rack of 300+ in the store and that they canāt all be returns she got mad and started giving me a lot of sass and being absolutely way to rude to be a supervisor. I told her to walk back with me and after some convincing she did. Upon seeing the massive display her whole attitude changed from aggressive/rude to apologetic. The issue ended up being that online orders have different item numbers then in store items. The biggest issue about this whole experience is that I have been going to Costco since I was a kid and have always enjoyed the experience and the nice and caring attitudes of the employees. Lori is the complete opposite of nice and caring. I donāt know who/how she was promoted to supervisor but I do not think she is a good fit for Costco. Costco can do and always has done better with its employees than Lori. If Lori is to stay, I believe that she should be set on temporary leave until she gets some true costumer service skills through training....
Ā Ā Ā Read more1st time patronizing this location. Stores vary in items or produce availability so we came here.
1st impressions store was excessively crowded. I was quite disappointed in the self ~ check lanes where thereās an abundance of staff āprofilingā consumers standing in clear view either behind you or in front of you as you scan items and place on tray.
I found it very frustrating to have a staffer tell me to press a cash out button while Iām pulling my wallet out of my purse to pay for my items. I felt if I stood there another second she was going to reach over and push the blue button for me. She stood directly in front of my basket;
There were many other consumers she and others could have assisted. Loss prevention is quite evident itās needed but donāt profile specific individuals in the self ~ check lanes. My concentration was on scanning and paying plus you have staffers at the exit entrance to check receipts and count items in my basket. As I did speak the staffer and the old her she is 3rd staffer to come over here within 2-3 minutes she caught an attitude and stated āI didnāt know it was a crime to offer helpā. Right then and there I should have requested a manger to address her behavior, because she didnāt belong in her job capacity, however I decided to write a review after requesting a store customer satisfaction survey satisfaction survey before my full exit.
I will say the staffer who checked my ticket upon exiting did ask me how my visit was and I did share, she said we can call a manager right now and get this corrected. I choose to submit the online survey and review candidly speaking.
Iām quite sure they have surveillance cameras to review the interaction from July 9, 2023 visit approximately 2:00:4:00pm.
We also sat down and made a purchase form the cafeteria and I thought about my 1st experience at this...
