OTORO HIBACHI 280 — Restaurant in Hoover

Ate here for the first time since it opened. The location is easy access and lots of parking, even has patio dining if you want to be outside. I guess you would call this Fast-Food Japanese Hibachi. First time I have actually dined at this type of service, and it brought me a good experience. Cute, clean, efficient layout. Walk up, order and the food is delivered to you at your table pretty quick. One thing I didn't like was the fact that their soda fountain has NO water dispenser. Never have seen one without water but maybe it was because of the remodel from previous restaurant didn't allow it to be added where it was located, so if you don't want to spend the extra money for bottled water or drink soda you are out of luck. The water they sell is Disanti, not my favorite water brand either!! But the food was great when it came!! Service was friendly, but the only interaction you really have is when you order and he delivers your food so hard to really give a rating, typical fast-food service I would say. I had the Steak and Chicken combo with fried rice and veggies, my friend with me had the Filet Mignon and Shrimp on Steamed rice with veggies. The combo plate does not come with Spring Rolls, so I ordered a side of 3 pcs for a few dollars, and they were great so make sure you try them!! The Filet-Mignon steak is $3 more than the regular steak so we tried each other's steak and yes you could taste a SLIGHT difference, the Filet-Mignon is a bit softer and not as chewy but personally not sure it is worth the extra $3 but give both a try sometime and make your own decision on that one. They do give you a tremendous amount of food on the combo plate, we both took home half our servings for a later meal. Next time I think I will give the Von Box a try as it only has one meat choice but comes with Sushi and Spring roll also for a bit less money, might be all you need for lunch and not take any home. Overall? I will stop in on occasion and savor something different on the menu each time to tease my pallet up for the next visit!! Such a shame. I understand establishments are busy and I gave this place a 2nd chance after they served me hard chicken pieces the last time. This time I came in and picked up an order for 3 of my colleagues. The first order I needed to pick up was almost given to the girl in front of me. the only reason it wasn't was because I spoke up. The 2nd issue was they claimed my friend never submitted her order on door dash pickup even though I provided her confirmation # and order details. The 3rd issue they accused me of picking up a 'made up order.' The 4th issue is the sushi tastes like mayonnaise with hot sauce. The 5th issue is that I pre-ordered steak hibachi combo lunch and I literally got a box of rice with 6 pieces of steak and very few veggies. no sauce and I was so overcharged. It was a terrible experience but I'm very appreciative of the young man who helped me get everything in order after he realized the lady in the front would not assist whatsoever. You were kind of think that it was going to be something where they cook on your table and things like that it's more like a fast food place for Asian food. So really it's no more than you would find at the corner of a grocery store where in the shopping center they got an Asian place where you walk in and grab your to-go food and leave I mean they do have hibachi but they're not cooking on your table for it obviously it's a lot cheaper to do it that way, and you'll pay a lot less to do it that way and I'm sure that it's great food but if I'm going all out to get hibachi, I'm not going to dress up and go out and get something like already prepaid and you know not done on my table. So, if I wanted fast food I'll just go to Wendy's. If I want somebody to dress up and if I want to dress up and go out I'm not coming here I'm going to go to hibachi grill.
