Relaxed, Refreshed, Reenergized, Reinvigorated, Repeated
I drive by their location almost daily and always wondered if it's worth a try. I'm just hesitant to commit a good chunk of time on a place without any reviews. But several weeks ago I found myself in desperate need of a massage, went there, and I definitely was not disappointed ... it was one of those situations where I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted, but I got exactly what I needed. I showed up to Charming exhausted and sore and I left feeling like a new person. They're not the cheapest, but I don't look for cheap - I look for amazing, and they are amazing. This place is definitely going on my awesome list - my massage was incredible. I even went again last week and this is where I will be going from now on.
So now, the details (apologies in advance - I write a lot):
I called and set up an appointment (although I think they also take walk-ins) with the man who answered. I was able to get a same-day appointment, but I wasn't sure which type of massage I wanted, so I told him I'd choose once I arrived.
Upon arriving (parking in the back) I was given a traditional Thai greeting. Looking around, it is a beautifully decorated and peaceful spa. We went over the services they offer, filled out some paperwork, and after a few questions I settled on the 60-min Aromatherapy massage. The therapist (Amy) introduced herself soon after, and took me into one of the rooms. I reviewed with her my problem areas and the pressure I was comfortable with. She definitely listened, and with lots of focus on my shoulders and lower back, I relaxed and just drifted away. Before I knew it, I was being asked to turn over. When the massage was over I felt rejuvenated. All of my problem areas felt loose and relaxed. Overall I was impressed by the amount of strength and control she had. The pressure during the massage was perfect, and she even checked in from time to time to make sure it was to my liking. She was professional, attentive, talented, and personable.
My only regret was wishing that I'd booked an even longer massage. However, this was something I was happy to correct on my second visit.
On my second visit I asked the therapist (Vena?) for a little more Thai stretching to be incorporated into the massage, and it was even better than some Thai massages I've received when I was in Thailand (I guess that makes sense since the therapists here are all Thai). I was stretched, pushed and pulled in the best way possible and felt knots dissolving. I have been to other massage places and I'm delighted with this find.
The ambiance was soothing, quiet, and comfortable. I instantly felt relaxed. The inside of the spa is immaculate - the hardwood floors are so clean they shine, and the room (I was given the couple's massage room both times) was spacious and relaxing yet offered secluded comfort and indulgence. I'm not the biggest person, but I loved the fact that the massage tables were not those ubiquitous skinny, wobbly, hard tables with a hole for my head. These seemed to be custom-made to allow for both the more traditional Thai massage (lazy person's Yoga) as well as the hybrid Thai / Aromatherapy massage that I enjoyed on my second visit. Aside from the massage itself, I'm very picky about external noise. When I go to spa, I want to feel as if I've been transported to my own private oasis and not have to listen to conversations between staff or with clients. Happily, noise was not an issue at all - everyone seemed very mindful of maintaining a peaceful environment, and voices were kept low with soothing music drowning out everything else.
As a final aside, when I asked why this little gem had no reviews, I was told that this is a new spa (in an old location), with a new owner, new staff, etc. Hopefully my positive review will send more people their way, but not too many - I still want to be able to get in those last minute bookings!
Highly recommended - I'll...
Read moreI rarely write reviews but I feel the need to share my experience. I am disappointed in this establishment. I am not accustomed to paying and tipping before service is rendered. We got a 90 minute couples massage but they charged us for 2 individual 90 minute massage which costs more than a 90 minute couples massage. My boyfriend and I work 60+ hours a week so getting Thai massages 2-3 times a month is such a nice treat. I really hate to say it but both of our massages were not good. It seems like they weren't experienced in the art or Thai Massage. I asked for more pressure but I can tell it was difficult for my therapist so I didn't ask again. The place is very nice and in a very nice location. I hope they can change their methods and improve their services. The ladies very very nice and grateful for...
Read moreMy back had been hurting for a about a week due sleeping on a small air mattress. I has several knots on my upper back. Let me just say hands down the best massage I've ever got in my life. The staff was very accommodating to my needs and even had the knot specialist come in for the last 15 mins. Also as far pricing goes it is reasonably priced. Other massage spas in the area were $120 an hour. They are $75 an hour. I had a great experience and besides the soreness from getting the knots out they basically fixed my back and it felt amazing. I would recommend this spa to any one and I typically don't write reviews for business but I just had to due to the fact that this was hands down the best massage I have ever received. They even stretched me my legs and arms. I love this place and...
