I use to go to the one on barker cypress where they greet you with a smile and are happy you are there! Used the barker location for several events! Loved it! Decided to try out this louetta location. My fiance made us and another couple reservations for my birthday here. We walked in all excited and the lady was already annoyed she had to tell me twice to fill out their slip of paper with your name and service. My friend and I picked out nail colors that were sitting in a basket. Went to the Man Cave (since it was the guys first time ever getting mani pedis wanted them to be comfty). I had never been there before and BOY will I never go back! Amya who did my toes and hands NEVER smiled, was very short with me, acted like I was dumb when I showed her the color I wanted but it was shellac polish and I didn't know that. No one instructed us when we came in. My friend who has this done much more often than I (last time I had my nails done was two years ago) asked if they still had that color and could just put a glitter or that rainbow shiny coat over the top. She came back with just a color. Amya started on me after everyone else had started and finished with me before everyone else. No foot massage that was suppose to be included in the $40 pedi package. Watched everyone else get one tho. I got French shellac on my nails that I had grown out for my birthday to get this done. She asked if I wanted them cut down. I said just a little b/c I like the length and they were all the same length so its not like she had to make them the same as the shortest. She cut more than half my length off. So short that you can see my finger around the nail, well just on the right side where it is a straight edge that goes up At an angle, the left side is rounded and opposite for the other hand. Amya asked if I liked the shape, I said no b/c they were not rounded. She mumbled something and continued to file the awkward shape. The white parts have dark marks on them under the clear coat. She cut my cuticle that still hurts. Instead of giving me the shoulder massage that is also included she asked if I wanted it, I said no b/c she had done a very poor job on everything else I had enough! She was very obviously in a hurry and had no desire to be making money there. Acted annoyed most of the time. I will give her that my pointer finger looks great! Side note: this was 9:30 am so its not like it was the end of the day and tired. Amya had an American accent so there was no language barrier. Wow! Happy birthday, right? At the other location we were always offered a drink. ONE of us was offered. This was the same lady who was the only one who smiled. Beautiful atmosphere, ugly service. UPDATE!!! 3 days and my shellac is...
Read moreI have been to this salon several times, and I will say that usually they do a good job on nails, HOWEVER I was extremely disappointed in my last experience there. I went in 2 or 3 weeks ago and decided to try getting my nails dipped for the first time. I'd heard good things about it, and wanted to give it a try. The lady who did my dipped nails did a good job, and I was pleased. This past Tuesday when I went in to have my nails done again with my cousin I decided the dipped nails were a little too thick for my taste, so I asked for shellac. The lady who did my nails this time kept talking on and on about how thick the dipping powder on my nails was, and it took her FOREVER to get it off. I have never had my nails dipped before, so I didn't know that it was much thicker than normal. She does my shellac manicure (I just got french tips, nothing special or fancy), and towards the end she mentions that she's going to charge me $7 to remove the dipped manicure. I ask her why, because EVERY time I've gone to this salon and ANY other salon, I have only been charged to have a manicure, solar nails, shellac, regular polish, etc., removed if I am not paying for another service. She mumbled about asking the front desk if they could just not charge me for it, but it was clear from her demeanor that she wanted to charge for it. So, I go to pay and she comes up with me to the desk to hand the lady my ticket, and starts talking to her in another language, presumably so I wouldn't understand. The lady then tells me my total is $40. I ask why it's so expensive. All I got was a $30 shellac manicure. She tells me that I'm also being charged $5 for the dipped manicure removal and another $5 for the french tips. I have never been charged here for having french tips done instead of a normal polish color, and I've never been charged to have something removed when I was paying for another service. It all felt very arbitrary and contrived, and I was very disappointed that they would upcharge me in this way. I've always tipped well and never fussed, even when they've not done a very good job. I don't think I'll be back here. I know it's only $10 extra, but it's not about the money. It was about the fact that they decided on a whim to upcharge me for something they should not have, and would not back down when I questioned their decision. It was not my fault that THEIR own employee overdid it on my dipped manicure. Why should I be charged for their...
Read moreI was one of Gossip’s very first customers when they opened a few years ago, and have rated them five stars in the past. However, I’m unbelievably disappointed with my most recent experience. While I have been out of the acrylic game for a little over a year (mostly due to the pandemic), never would I think that the price for a set of acrylics would have DOUBLED in price since my last visit. If you find my previous review, I have gone plenty of times and received a pedicure and full set for around $80 (that’s with tip). Today, I received service from a man named “King” who told me that the price for acrylic was $37 dollars, tips would be $10 (tips are usually included in a full set), and that shellac overlay would be an additional $13 - so a full set put me back $60!! When I asked King what happened to the $30 sets, he said he’s been working there for two years and that’s never been the price (which is a lie). Now, while that is crazy steep IMO, I went ahead with it as I had been a previous customer of Gossip and thought I would get quality work. However, my nails have come out thick, uneven, bulky around the nail bed, and I can tell they will likely not last the amount of time they should for $60. And it wasn’t even the shoddy job that got to me the most...it was the pushy car sales man tactic that King used. He actually told me that if I chose to not get shellac it would take an HOUR for my nails to dry with regular polish (I originally wanted just an acrylic set with reg polish as I like to change my polish up every week or so). Now, I have been doing my nails longer than I have not...and never once in my life has it taken an hour for nails to dry. I felt like he rushed the job and then felt pressured into a more expensive option as I did not want to sit at a drying station for that long during a pandemic. I will never be returning to Gossip after...
