Where to begin! Portions are good for the price. Food is delicious (coming from a Mexican). We moved to Baytown from California and I don't think I've ever felt more at home here than anywhere else compared to all this gross Tex-Mex food. D'x I wish we lived closer so we could come more often, :'( but I'm sure if I ever get the craving I'll drive the 1 hour and 10 minutes. The OWNER! OH MY GOD, what a sweetheart! Again, I cant express enough how warm and welcomed we felt being there as first timers. If it's your first time TELL HIM! He will spoil you and treat you well! Everything is made from scratch! So it's fresh! Order their Horchata! (Homemade too!) It was 3 of us and my parents ordered 4 and I ordered 1 to go x'D ..that good. True story by the way. There salsa's were NOT watered down! Big thumbs up for that! And the place was clean! You don't have to worry about them doing anything crazy to your food because the kitchen is right behind the counter so you can watch ^_^ . I found this place by just typing in the word "tacos" on Google and saw that it had the most stars out of all the places it requested so we gave it a shot and we were NOT disappointed! I only do reviews when the service is really REALLY good, or completely terrible! Tis why I gave it 5 stars, usually I hold back and give 4,, but the service to me is what matters the most! Makes your food taste like there's...
Read moreMy son flew in from Oregon and wanted authentic Mexican food not Tex-Mex. This place got great reviews but when we arrived just after 6pm their sign wasn't lit up so we thought they were closed and almost went somewhere else. Sure glad we had a closer look and found they were open. Turns out they hadn't reset the timer on the signs lights which were set for 6:30pm! In a nutshell the service was great, the place was clean and nice and quiet, the restrooms were spotless (never put that in a review before!) the prices were very reasonable indeed and the food was spot on! My wife had the Tostaditas de la Casa which were three tostados on corn tortillas and packed with meat and all the trimmings. My son had the Enchiladas Rojas which was not like your average Americanized enchilada but very authentic like the ones my sons gets from his South American friends in Oregon. I tried the Tapado which came with 3 steaming corn tortillas, guacamole and salsa. Excellent! Everyone tried my smokey flavored beef and agreed it was the tastiest dish of all. They were both very pleased with their dinner and the quantity was just right. Not so much that you had to take half of it home. But the prices were just right for the portions. The husband and wife team were very pleasant and made us all fell very welcome. Definitely not going to wait for our son to return before we come...
Read moreI visited here on a Saturday afternoon, at 1pm. Maybe we ordered the wrong things here? I prefer Mexican food over Tex-Mex, so that's not the problem I experienced. I visited here on a Saturday afternoon, at 1pm. I was expecting so much better based upon the Yelp reviews. Unfortunately though, Sierra Madre was a big fail for me. I had tacos de trompo, which were tasty, greasy, which I expected, but the meat was very salty. I also had their caldo de pollo, which was a huge letdown. It was nothing more than boiled shredded chicken in the broth it cooked in, with some carrots, and a very scant amount of plain white rice tossed in. I was expecting vegetables and a deeply flavored chicken broth which is what a standard caldo de pollo is like, but this soup fell short in a big way. Their prices are also a bit steep for what is really just taqueria food. Two orders of their tacos de trompo, two Mexican Cokes, chips & salsa, and a small cup of caldo de pollo was over $33. We...
