A couple items:
This was not my first time with PT. This was my first time with a knee replacement after two intensive knee scopes. As a patient who has been in PT several times, I knew what to expect and how to proceed. Jennifer is the drill sergeant that I needed to make myself better and to keep me within mine expectations but to push me along the way. I'm glad she helped me exceed expectations.
If you are new to PT, you need to ensure you know your expectations and goals. If you don't know these, or think you can go back to 100% normal, you need to evaluate your situation.
Jennifer is not for the faint of heart. She is a drill sergeant! She can't tell you what your expectations or goals are post surgery/injury; you need to have those going to see her. She will help you meet and possibly exceed your expectations and goals but the work must come from you. Only you can do the exercises. Only you can do the home work. Jennifer, and her assistant Terry, can only help and guide you on your journey, and they do an excellent job doing so.
My journey took a couple decades which included two major scopes with reshaping in the same knee and finally, or ultimately, a knee replacement at a young age. I knew going in my expectations and limitations. But I also had a goal: to go skiing again. With this in mind, Jennifer was able to chart the course for successful rehab. But it wasn't without me doing at home work and extracurricular activities, like the awesome Pilates classes. Jennifer makes sure you listen to your body and helps you understand how to meet, and potentially exceed your limitations. With her services, I feel my rehab accelerated my recovery and I was able to do things better, quicker. In terms of my goal: well, let's say I had a very fun week of back-country skiing.
I'm thankful for Jennifer and Terry and their work to help make me better. Without them, I doubt I could have exceeded my expectations and exceed some of my goals.
Each person is different and results vary. Jennifer can only provide you with what you are willingly to do. If you do the minimum, you get the minimum. Put in the work, follow the advice, and show progress, Jennifer will reward you with more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTherapist Rachel and Isaiah were the best thing about this PT location! They really listened to what I had to say, what level of an athlete I was and wanted to return to. They set goals that fit in line with my wants and I am so grateful for their guidance. That being said, they are the only reason I continued receiving treatment here. Couple things to note. Location is convenient (the heights), but is also a residential home which makes parking rather difficult. The front desk staff does a good job of trying to juggle it, but this requires you sometimes getting blocked in, moving your car if you have someone blocked in, sometimes having to circle the block anywhere from 1-15 minutes because you canāt sit on the street until someone leaves, or having to go in to get a parking tag to park on the street. This is a very pet friendly home which didnāt bother me too much. Three small dogs and a cat typically roamed very freely, sometimes jumping on your table while youāre in a session or the rare occasion of snapping at you, but were generally put into a kennel if they became snappy. Front desk was very nice, always trying their best to remind you of appt times and assign parking or inform you of any changes. In the beginning my appts were constantly changed by 15-45 mins without confirming with me, I was just informed of it, but we eventually sat down and found a schedule that worked. Had little interaction with Jennifer when it came to PT, but saw her often. She was typically nice enough when speaking to me, but was very stern and constantly stopping to scold her staff for doing something. I obviously see the need to correct staff if doing something incorrectly, but constantly doing it mid sessions or in front of clients made it feel awkward. She was very my way or the highway type, but if you can handle that, then no issues. Bonus was having a small Pilates studio on site that was used for treatment on occasion. In the end, Iām super happy with the results I saw from working with Rachel and Isaiah (5 stars), but just giving the rating overall including things I look for in a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn April, I was walking down my steps and clumsily missed the bottom two steps and ended up breaking BOTH my ankles. After surgery, my doctor told me it was time to start PT. I am so very glad I chose to go to JKPT although it was outside my provider network. I did a ton of research and chose to go here instead of one of the hospital sponsored PT facilities. Although it was more expensive for me out of pocket, I thought the mix of regular PT with Pilates would help me get better quicker and be stronger for the longer term. Jennifer and her team have not disappointed. They give excellent personal attention and I have excelled because of it. For example, the first several times I went there, Jennifer spent extra time (1.5 hours +) with me to determine exactly what I needed. I received cupping, massages, and a full set of exercises that were extremely beneficial. When I went to my doctor after 10 weeks after my surgery he was shocked at the mobility I had in both of my ankles. He essentially told me I had progressed so well that I needed no further PT! Of course, I have chosen to disregard his recommendation and have stayed with JKPT and am now taking Pilates classes in addition to the PT sessions. I highly recommend Jennifer and her team. They go above and beyond to accommodate their patients and you truly get what you pay for. They are so supportive and conscientious, you will feel better after...
