I am editing my review. While I have always had a great experience with the massage therapists, I unfortunately cannot say the same about the front desk staff regarding cancelling my membership. I moved to another city and I can no longer afford the membership so I have been trying since October to cancel it. I called earlier in October and was originally told to call back around the 31st. I call back around the 31st and and was told I needed to fill out a form, pay for the month of November since the 10 day period the cancellation needed to go into effect would obviously roll into November, and then that would be it. I was peeved that I had to pay for yet another month I didn't need and was not going to use, but complied politely, despite feeling like being told to call later in the month was so they could get another month of $65 membership money out of me. Whatever, I just wanted to get it cancelled.
I was emailed the form in early November. I filled it out and emailed it back, I also sent it by mail to cover my bases. According to what I was told, that was all they needed and after the 10 day period was up my membership would be cancelled. The other day I get notification that my bank account is in the negative due to the membership charge for December. At this point I am livid because ME did not hold up on their end despite me following their instruction. If I could afford to continue the membership I would in my new city but obviously I cannot at this time. I called ME and expressed my frustration colorfully. I have tried being very polite before and just felt scammed. I was cut off and told "call back and try again" due to my attitude.
Had I known it was going to be this difficult to cancel membership, I would have never signed up and just paid per massage. I am by myself on a budgeted income and cannot afford this luxury at this time. A year+ ago I was able to and it greatly helped me in my day to day physical job. From reading other reviews it seems there seems to be recurring issues with the front desk staff. That is sad to see. Because of my experience I will be cautioning everyone I know about signing up for membership with ME. I have many monthly free massages built up, but I don't even care about that and am not asking for anything but please stop my membership and taking money I don't have.
Ryan is the best! I signed up for a membership and Ryan has been doing a great job helping me feel better and maintaining that wellness feeling through his thorough knowledge and skill of massage. Highly...
Read moreI want to note that due to the woman that gave me a facial is why ME - River Oaks is getting 3-stars; it honestly deserves 2.
I was given gift cards for my birthday and so I used one for a massage and the other for a facial. I went on different days.
First off, the staff is very nice, but when I think of a "spa", I think of something a little more tranquil. It was very apparent that this was a business and that their goal was to sell memberships. They had a small "room" for people to wait in that was supposed to put one in the tranquil mood, yet the front is huge and bright, so it really didn't do it for me.
My Massage: I received an hour massage by a very nice woman, however I requested for deep tissue massage & preferably a male since they tend to have stronger hands. I'm not sure what type of lotion they use, but it felt like I was being massaged with some sort of slippery oil. She never really got deep into my muscles; I honestly felt like I didn't get a massage at all. I'm going to stick with Zalla Massage, down the street where I KNOW I'm going to get what I ask for. Do yourself a favor and see what a really good massage feels like.
My Facial: The woman who did my facial was a gem. I've never really had a facial before, so I didn't know what to expect. She made the environment very relaxing as she worked on my face. I explained how oils tend to make me break out, so I'm guessing she didn't use any as my skin ended up so soft and silky and I had zero breakouts. When she did the extractions, I thought for sure my face was going to be red and show signs where she had worked. When it was all said & done, I couldn't tell where she did the extractions (no redness) and my skin was glowing. I loved the hot towels, but again with the massage oil. She massages both arms/hands, but it just felt like some slippery oil on my skin. If they changed that stuff, it would be so much better. I may go back for a facial someday, but ask them to skip...
Read moreHad a great day planned by my GF to have massages and then go to a show. Got the text the day before to verify our appointments and we both responded with the âYâ to verify. I live in Katy and the show was downtown. Planned to go have a massage then dinner and a show! Being that it was her 40th birthday I wanted a special day for her. Headed down to the location and went to check in. The lady at the front told us she could find my reservation but not hers. I though to myself that it was weird since the reservations were both placed on the same phone call with the same place. Come to find out, the specialist that was assigned to her was no longer employed by this location. The lady at the front said that she called everyone and spoke to the clients or left a voicemail. Either she totally called someone else or completely lied about the call. There were no messages left with my GF and we definitely would not have driven 30 miles 3 hours before our show if there was a message or even an attempt to contact us. We ended up having to kill 3 hours downtown waiting for the show since we left on time to have the services performed. The lady at the front was pretty snappy to us as well when my GF said she never got a voicemail or a phone call. Not sure why we can get a message in text to verify we are coming but when the location has to cancel our appointment we donât get the same curtesy.
BTW, contacted them through the site that is posted below and have not heard from anyone. Guess they really donât care about clients or their horrible experiences. đ Sure i can find another company that actually make poor...
