I visited this spa yesterday and while parts of my experience were enjoyable, the overall value fell significantly short for the price point. For luxury services, it's often the small details that distinguish exceptional from merely adequate—and unfortunately, this place missed several marks. My advice: avoid higher-priced packages or try another place. Here are my detailed observations: Grows: 1. An obviously used and uncollected teacup remained in the seating area throughout my visit, suggesting lax attention to cleanliness in common spaces. 2. The bathroom soap dispenser was completely empty after my first pump—clearly not refilled between clients, which is both inconvenient and raises hygiene concerns. 3. Trash receptacles were filled beyond capacity, forcing me to uncomfortably push my waste into already overflowing bins—particularly disappointing considering I arrived early as one of the day's first appointments. 4. My service attendant displayed unprofessional spa training; explanations were hurried and incomplete, transitions between treatment steps lacked proper preparation (most alarmingly when she unexpectedly applied a hot towel to my face without any warning about temperature or timing), and not once during the entire service did she ask if I was okay or comfortable —a fundamental expectation for premium spa services. For a $260 treatment, these oversights in service quality and environmental cleanliness are simply unacceptable. Glows: 1. Despite these disappointments, the facility itself and linens appeared generally well-maintained, and drinkware smelled properly sanitized. My attendant, while lacking in customer service refinement, did perform an impressively thorough body scrub that, though somewhat aggressive in pressure, left my skin feeling exceptionally refreshed and smooth. 2. The aromatic oils and cleansing products were delicious & left my skin feel soft n clean. 3. The steam room provided excellent therapeutic benefits with optimal temperature and humidity, though I found myself wishing this particular step was longer in time. Overall, I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment at its current price structure, particularly when comparable—if not superior—services are readily available elsewhere in Houston for approximately half the...
Read moreAs a first-timer at a hammam spa, Oasis Moroccan Spa may serve as a gentle introduction to the traditional bathing ritual—but seasoned hammam-goers might find the experience lacking in authenticity and refinement.
We booked the Simple Luxury package. The process begins with a lathering of black soap in a tiled room that, notably, is not pre-warmed. This can be quite uncomfortable when you’re being rinsed and left damp in cooler air. The steam is only turned on after the soap is applied, and unfortunately, it never reached the soothing, enveloping heat one might expect from a proper hammam experience.
The exfoliation step was underwhelming. Only a scrub cloth was used—without the aid of the classic bubble technique often used in more traditional hammams to help glide the cloth over the skin. The scrubbing itself felt rushed and mechanical, not particularly relaxing or thorough. In fact, when I got into my car afterward, I noticed patches of dead skin on my legs and even on the car seat—suggesting that the exfoliation could benefit from a more attentive approach.
While the service includes a hair wash, it’s worth noting that for those with long or textured hair, you should bring your own conditioner and brush, as neither is provided. Also, don’t expect your face to get any attention—a personal face moisturizer would be a good idea to bring along.
One curious touch: after the session, the attendants may invite you for sweets and tea. However, it’s unclear whether this is a complimentary gesture or an added cost. Given the quality of the overall service, I politely declined.
Oasis Moroccan Spa may be a decent entry point if you’re curious about hammam treatments and want a mild, Westernized version. However, if you’re seeking an authentic or deeply rejuvenating experience, you might leave feeling like something essential was missing. With a few thoughtful improvements—warmer rooms, better exfoliation technique, and a more complete post-service care—this spa could elevate its offering...
Read more6/15/23 Update - Customer satisfaction is clearly not a focus of this business, as it took the owner two months to respond. It’s worth noting that the No one from this establishment has bothered to reach out to me personally.
If your focus is Hammam Bath Rituals, then you should NOT list deep tissue massages in your services menu.
As I mentioned, the marble surface had ZERO padding during my treatment.
——— My mother and I were looking forward to a relaxing spa day at our first visit. We both scheduled a 90 minute massage.
On arrival, no one was at the reception. We waited for a few minutes until Kim emerged from the back. She proceeded to hand us forms to fill out (the same forms we already filled out online prior to arriving).
At no point did she ask if this was our first visit or even explain the process until I asked. Finally, 15 minutes after arriving we were taken to the back to change. It’s worth noting that we did not receive the full 90 minutes When I realized that we were still in the reception area after the scheduled time, I asked Kim if we would receive the full 90 minutes and she stated yes.
We were both placed in separate hammam rooms. These rooms should NOT be used for 90 minute massages. I have never experienced a more uncomfortable massage experience. The hammam “bed” is not a bed, but rather a tile/marble surface with ZERO padding. Additionally, there was no proper neck or back support as is standard with massage beds. After spending $450 for two massages (including gratuity), we should not leave feeling more distressed then when we arrived.
This was a complete and utter waste of money. Next time I’ll stick to the Houstonian or Post Oak where clients are placed in proper beds and there are other amenities to...
