I've gotten nothing but great results from this shoe shop. I wear heels to work and over time the heel tip wears down (ladies you know what I'm talking about!) so I'm always needing to have those darn things replaced. Whenever I walk and it starts to feel like I'm walking on stilts almost, I know its time to pay West Shoe Hospital a visit!
The owner, Carlos, does a great job making your shoes look brand new all over again! And for a good price! Just last week I took two pairs of heels that needed minor repairs. The first pair only needed the heel tips replaced. The second pair was a pair of Guess heels that I needed Carlos to work magic on. I got a really bad mark on the right shoe, right at the toe and it made a really noticable mark on my camel colored pumps. Needless to say, I was not happy about it and was devasted when it happened. Not only were these shoes fairly new, but they were one of my favorite pairs! Carlos was able to blend the mark in and now you can't even tell it was there! The thought of having to buy another pair of camel colored pumps because of one mark made me cringe! Carlos definitely saved the day, and saved me some bucks as well!
The only downfall is he doesn't except debit/credit cards. So be prepared to write a check or bring cash. I usually never have cash on me so I'm always having to write a check. Oh yeah, and sometimes (I don't know if anyone else has experienced this) you may have to wait about 10 minutes when picking up your shoes. He's usually always going to do some last minute touch ups before giving you your shoes. However, he does a really good job and on top of all that, he's a...
Read moreI wish I had taken a before picture, but my boots were well-worn and the sole was coming apart due to the stitching being destroyed. I haven't gotten boots resoled in about a decade and tried West Shoe Hospital based on reviews and experience with high-end shoes. When I dropped my boots off, I had a nice chat about the business and family history, being three generations deep of cobblers, and modern boot quality. Not knowing what current resole rates were, I had a little sticker shock at $115, but figured it's been a while and inflation hasn't been the kindest lately. I also don't mind paying for artisanship. They did a great job resoling my boots and conditioning them. The leather sole they used is very thick and should last a very long time. I wear boots every day and alternate 3 pairs regularly. My boots get beaten and used and I know where the next set will be going to be cared for. Thanks for doing a spectacular job and having these things looking like new! Now I have to beat them up again so people know I use them ;) Note to anyone looking at the pictures...these are oil tanned leather boots and are supposed to look dull...
Read moreI came into the West Shoe Hospital shop with a lot of questions about shoe care and repair prices. JR (Cobbler) was able to answer them all! We also had a great conversation about different shoe brands and leathers. I explained to JR that I recently bought my first pair of nice dress shoes (J&M Hyde Park II Cap Toe) and that I wanted to make sure they lasted for years to come. He briefed me on all the different preventative measures to take to ensure the protection of my shoe. I was so impressed by JR's expertise, professionalism and photo gallery of previous shoe repair projects that I decided to place my trust in him. I handed JR my brand new J&M shoes for him to insert rubber sole guards and heel plates. West Shoe Hospital promptly notified me once the job was done. Upon my arrival, I was ecstatic to see the final product. JR really did "hit the nail on the head" on this one. His work was impeccable. Whether you are a first time buyer of nice dress shoes or a life long collector, look no further than West Shoe Hospital for your Cobbler needs. I promise you that JR will treat you like family and take excellent care...
