I really wanted this place to have good ramen. Sadly, the ramen wasn’t the only thing that this restaurant in lacking in. The service was also particularly terrible. I always try and not be a bother for the staff, but I did mention the service to the waitress. I rarely push the issue, so I didn’t. I wasn’t in a huge hurry. I thought I have plenty of time. I’ll start this review with telling you that it took nearly a half hour to receive my bowl of ramen, which is the only thing I ordered. After about 20 minutes, I mentioned the wait to my waitress, who promptly pointed out that the table of 4 next to me hadn’t received their food yet. I was one of 10 - 13 customers in the restaurant on a quiet Tuesday evening. I’d this had been a busy day, how long would it take to get a single bowl of ramen? 2 hours? Longer? Not wanting to make a scene, I left it at that. I told myself I’d wait 6 more minutes before I just leave. My hindsight is telling me I should’ve just left and gone elsewhere. With a minute left, my ramen finally made it to my table. Before the waitress left, I requested and promptly paid my bill. The ramen was absolutely terrible. I came in there hungry and looking forward to a bowl of ramen. I tried to choke it down, but left prob more than half left in the bowl. The bamboo shoots were off and tasted funny. There was no boiled egg as promised on the menu. The pork was greasy and lukewarm. The worst quality of this ramen was, by far, the broth. What a sad excuse for Japanese ramen. The broth was basically hot water. It was completely devoid of flavor. It’s safe to say, I won’t be back and I understand why I drive by this place and see so few cars in the parking lot. How has this place survived with such terrible food in Houston, a real “Mecca for...
Read moreMy review is solely based on service. Several times I've been here for lunch since I work close to the restaurant. The OLD WAITRESS needs to go. Upon entering I've noticed that she will attempt to ignore my presence or act as if I never walked in. But yesterday the same exact thing happened to me and while I was waiting to be seated two people walked in and she immediately acknowledged their presence and proceeded to seat them looking over me as if i weren't there. The place is small so there's no way she didn't see me. After some time she acted as if it were s mistake she didn't see me there and seated me serving me only a tea then avoiding my table for 30 minutes. Well by this time my lunch break is about up and I'm hungry haven't ordered anything and irritated. So I paid for the tea and left. I will NEVER eat here again. TO THE OWNERS: The resturant business is to hard of a business for your employees to give horrible service. The old waitress should wait on all your patrons the same. She never once greeted me with a smile or promptly. I would hate to assumr that it's because I'm African American however over the past 8 years that I've visited your establishment I've noticed the difference in her service towards myself and other African American customers. There are also other sushi restaurants that will be grateful for the clientel your employees are basicly shoving...
Read moreThe waitress was incredibly attentive! I was so impressed. The restaurant is average sized. I love the little koi pond inside. The fish look very happy.
Edamame veggie gyoza- pretty good! A bit mushy. Soft shell crab- delicious with the lemon, I didn't think it needed any sauce on the side. Fried baby octopus- also very good. Spicy girl roll- just okay Real California roll- very simple, flavorless Sea of love- I really liked this one but my husband did not. He said it was dry. Josh roll- I think it was the best of the entire experience.
Tempura fried banana with vanilla ice cream- just okay. I think the tempura batter could've been better and the ice cream. My favorite place does a fried green tea ice cream with strawberries.
Also the miso ramen was okay. The meat was incredible. But it was just okay overall.
Beef short ribs were...
