I had initially heard mixed reviews regarding Dr. Guan. However, there is a Facebook group called Nancy’s Nook where I read a few good reviews and thought maybe I should at least go in for a consult. I’ve had endometrial surgery before and plenty of pelvic exams. Well to say the least, my experience with Dr. Guan was HORRIFYING! The vaginal exam was so intrusive and rough that I started shaking and sobbing. He then told me to breathe to continue onto the rectal exam. I was already out of sorts at this point and just trying to breathe. He went so deep rectally that I think my body went into shock. The PAIN WAS UNBEARABLE! I was sobbing for over 2 hours after- couldn’t get myself to stop. There was no communication of what to expect and HE DIDN’T STOP!! HE SHOULD HAVE STOPPED!! There was no need for a rectal exam when I’ve has no symptoms of endometriosis in bowel and he was going to do a contrast MRI anyway! I now have pain and muscle spasms radiating into my back and glutes. I could barely walk, couldn’t eat for two days from being nauseous after this experience. He had no remorse! The nurse didn’t offer me pain meds or come back to check on me! Especially after crying out in pain! DO NOT GO TO HIM!!! I will also be reporting him to the hospital system! I’ve NEVER been so traumatized and violated by any doctor! I have also come to find out that Nancy’s Nook on Facebook is probably endorsed by the physicians on their list. No one is able to make a complaint or state their concerns regarding a doctor on their “approved” list. Many have been kicked out for questioning admins in regards to why their concerns were not posted. The journey of finding an endometrial excision doctor is already quite the challenge. But we must align ourselves with a doctor that is very caring, minimally evasive, gentle and one that can attempt to empathize! We put our lives in their hands when in surgery and the regard for human life and care should be put first. Good luck to all the ladies! I will update my review once I find a doctor who I’m comfortable with. Be careful of groups endorsing just a handful of doctors. Maybe it will help another person like...
Read moreDr. Guan, his colleagues, nurses, and office staff were all incredibly kind and compassionate. I was on the fence about seeing him after reading some of these Google reviews. Ladies, don't let the reviews deter you from consulting with him. Dr. Guan was the friendliest and kindest doctor I have met since I was diagnosed with severe stage 4 extrapelvic endometriosis. He made me feel a lot better about my situation and after meeting with multiple endo surgeons in Texas, I absolutely know I am in great hands proceeding to have surgery with him. For anyone skeptical about the reviews, he does speak English. The internal exams were not pleasant, but ONLY because I have severe endometriosis. Dr. Guan, his colleague, and his nurse checked on me multiple times as he was proceeding with the exams. Dr. Guan even asked multiple times if he needed to stop the exams. He was very clear about what he was doing and he gave me a heads up as he palpated certain organs to see if I had pain or tenderness in those organs. I am very thankful for the thorough exams because he found a nodule that was not found during my last surgery, which explains why I am still in pain. My experience with Dr. Guan, his colleague, and his staff was fantastic. I have been to 5 different endometriosis surgeons in Texas and my experience with Dr. Guan was by far the best. I was told by multiple obgyns prior to my first laparoscopy that I likely didn't have diaphragmatic endo due to its rarity, but I could feel the endo growing on my diaphragm. I expressed my concern to Dr. Guan that the endo has grown into my chest cavity and he took my concerns very seriously and immediately ordered a chest MRI. Absolutely amazing medical care and he listens to his patients concerns and does not dismiss them on the basis that something is "rare". Go see Dr. Guan if you have been on the fence about it, the experience...
Read moreDO NOT go to Dr. Guan for any kind of medical treatment. I agree with the other patient, that he should NOT be allowed to practice at Texas Children's Hospital or any hospital for that matter. I will continue to dissuade other women from going to see him. He operated on my daughter and completely ruined her reproductive system!! My daughter had ovarian cysts that he was going to remove, and instead Dr. Guan "accidentally" cut off one of her fallopian tubes, was left on her pelvic floor, which became necrotic and gangrened AND perforated her intestines. For the next two weeks of her recovery she became so sick, and the doctor in the ER (Methodist Hospital) stated that had we not taken her to the ER that day - she would not have survived that night. I almost lost my daughter as a result of his negligence. After two more surgeries, blood transfusions, feeding tubes, NG tubes, etc., she slowly started to get better. Oh, and yes, he kept saying, "I am the best doctor in doing these procedures" - LIES!! PLEASE - DO NOT TAKE ANY RISKS!! Last I heard he was with Texas Children’s Hospital- Pavilion for Women, and I don’t know WHO was decided it was a good idea to put him on the Maternal Fetal Medicine Team because those patients are high risk and putting these mothers and babies in his care is a liability and danger to both mom and babies’ lives. Take care and choose your doctors wisely. My daughter went through so much physically, emotionally and...
