I have been shopping here for over 2 years. This is the greatest grocery store I have ever shopped in. They have the best meat I have ever eaten in my life. The butchers are terrific and courteous. I am disabled so I need to limit the time I am standing. I call the day ahead and order my meats. They have them all sliced and waiting for me at the time I told them I would be in. This limits my in store time to about 15 minutes. I don't drive so I take a taxi home. They have a wonderful covered area with tables and benches. I merge my stuff into duffles and freezer bags to make it easier on the taxi driver when he takes my bags upstairs. This also makes it easier on me while I wait on the taxi. The area and store are always spotless. Also their prepared dinners carnitas chicken etc are fabulous as well. I love this store and its so much better than huge places like Walmart where you have to deal with inferior quality, long lines and screaming brats. I love La Posta and will always shop there. Read moreVery small local grocery market. Higher prices than outside of Imperial Beach. For locals however, the place is a STAPLE!
If you need to grab something extra for a meal and don't want to go further to another store, come here. I would NOT recommend this place for daily shopping needs as the prices on canned, boxes and packaged items are HIGH.
I go there for the meat and produce mostly. The produce section is small, but has the basics for Mexican/American cooking.
Their hot food counter is open during the day and serves delicious food and salsas. They make their own tortillas and tortilla chips in house as well as other items and they are GREAT!
Clean store, and you never have to wait long in line. ATM inside, water machines outside, liquor, cigarettes and hot Mexican food plates for eating on their patio, or to go.
The reasons for the lack of stars are high prices, small store/selection, dirty parking lot, and a couple of rude employees. Other than that, a solid little grocery store for...
Read moreThis is my neighborhood small grocery store, and is my go-to place for fresh corn tortillas. The meat counter is well-stocked, and the butchers are friendly and fast. The fruit and vegetables though, aren't usually very fresh (which is why they didn't get 5 stars from me). The hot prepared food is about what I expect at a small Mexican grocery store, and by that I mean it is always good. Chiles rellenos unless you go late, and a roasted chicken dinner with beans and rice is great for when I don't feel like cooking. I don't usually get the salsa that it comes with (it's just a bit bland for my taste, others may like it), but the other salsas are worth the little extra that they cost. If you go in the morning, grab a fresh baked bolillo bread. They cost 20 cents, and are prefect with coffee. So overall, I like this place, but for fresh produce, it's not my...
