Representative from Geek Squad came to my house to discuss what I would need to "cut the cord". Process would require purchasing several items from Best Buy. He said he would sent me a quote in two days. Seven days later, nothing. Called Best Buy, was on hold for 14 minutes. When my call was finally answered I was told I would have to speak with someone at the Geek Squad (800#). Transferred my call...wait time, 17 minutes. Requested they call me back when someone was available. Received and automated call 20 minutes later only to be put on hold for another 15 minutes. When the lady finally answered the phone and I told her what the situation was, she asked the rep's name. When I told her the agent's first name and the store he worked out of, she said she would need his whole name. I asked her if they kept track of their potential customers by their name and she said no. I said I would try another company to see if they had a better system and then she realized she could look it up by my phone number. She found the guy and said she would try to call him. On hold for another 10 minutes. Came back and said he was going into another appointment right then, email him and let him know what I wanted..???? He doesn't know? By the way, while speaking with the person from Geek Squad, I found his card. When he gave it to me I asked him if the number on the card was that of the store...he said no, that was his cell and it would go straight to him. The GS person told me that the number I gave her for him, the one on the card, was not the number she had so she would try contacting him with the number she had. Again...???? She asked me what I was wanting to do. I told her and she started telling me what I would "probably" need without even knowing the specifics that I relayed to the rep during our 1 1/2 hour meeting. I finally told her, I could get the pricing from the Best Buy website on my own. The goal was to tell me exactly what equipment I needed. Suffice it to say, I'll be purchasing my equipment from amazon (sorry Best Buy) and finding someone from Angie"s list to come out and set...
Read moreI appreciate the honesty of eventually telling me that they didn't have the tools to replace my laptop keyboard, but getting there was damaging. Without even looking up my appointment ticket or examining the type of laptop, the representative opened it up and started unscrewing things left and right, pulling off and bending fragile pieces as he tried to take them all out to get to the keyboard. After taking out all the screws and pieces he could, he began peeling at a plastic film layer before noticing the plastic rivets holding the keyboard in place. THEN he decided to look up the specific device and some directions and informed me that they weren't equipped to handle this repair. He put things back together (mostly) and thankfully the guy at CPR (Cell Phone Repair, which I highly recommend) across the street was able to properly reassemble it and get it running again, and explained the process for replacing...
