Let me tell you about the culinary rodeo I experienced at Taqueria el Jinete, where the pastor tacos aren’t just food; they’re a round trip ticket to Flavor Town with a layover in Deliciousville. The arroz con pollo? A masterpiece! It’s like the cook whispered a secret to each grain of rice, and the secret was “be irresistible," only in Spanish.
Now, the salsas. Oh, those salsas! They were like a trio of dance partners, each with their own spicy moves. I salsa’d my way through all three, and let’s just say, it was a close call to the finish line. But fear not, for I made it home without any ‘explosive’ detours. Something to keep in mind or else you'll find yourself rushing into the local Circle K red faced and pants unbuckled yelling, "BATHROOM! BATHROOM!"
Taqueria el Jinete is the place to go if you’re looking for a meal that’s both a party in your mouth and a get up and go for your gastrointestinal system. Just maybe don’t plan any immediate post-dinner activities, unless they are close to home.
The authenticity meter at Taqueria el Jinete is off the charts! You couldn’t get more authentic unless you took a jaunt south of the border. But why bother with climbing the wall and taking your chances with the cartel when you can just pop into Taqueria el Jinete and let your taste buds take all...

This place was open earlier than all the other mexican restaurants but I didn’t see a breakfast menu online so I decided to give them a call. The owner answered, and he was super nice and said that even though they didn’t have a breakfast menu, he could make us whatever we wanted… Within reason lol.
I ordered the chilaquiles (they’re like breakfast nachos) and they ended up being some of the best chilaquiles I’ve had in a long time! Even the eggs on top were cooked to perfection and the beans had a nice kick to them. Also, not to mention the salsas were on point the one in the red bottle was super hot. I think it was habanero. The clear bottle was kind of tangy almost citrusy. And the green one had this creamy green salsa that I could eat on anything!
Oh yeah and they make a sweet pineapple drink (agua de piña) that was...
Read moreTried out Taqueria el jinete tonight and holy smokes!!!! This is my new taco spot. We tried a lot since it was our first time. Clean inside, counter service to order then they deliver to your table and check in on you.
•Chips, salsa & guacamole: chips were hot and fresh, salsa was tasty (not too spicy), and the guac was delicious. As good as I’ve had off a cart on the beach in Mexico.
•Torta de ceviche: delicious, balanced flavor, tender shrimp
•Tacos: -al pastor: perfection, my new favorite -birria: so tender and juicy, amazingly seasoned -chorizo: best I’ve ever had
•Rice: don’t let the color fool you; it was PACKED with flavor.
•Pina agua fresca: sweet and so refreshing; exactly what I hoped it would be.
Overall I give this place a 10/10. Must try. Everything was packed with flavor. Got all the above...
