I love Home Depots. I have shopped them all over the country and trust them. However, I had a negative experience at this one and I hope to offer some constructive criticism.
A few weeks ago, I needed a scrap piece of lumber to place under my jack as I was working on my truck. So I went to the closest Home Depot, navigated to where the clearance lumber usually is and, sure enough, a cart that had a sign that said 70% off clearance lumber! After selecting a prime piece of less-than-prime lumber, the cashier told me they did not do clearance lumber anymore. I replied that there was indeed a clearance cart. The cashier went and got the lumber associate who came over and said the same to which I replied the same. I asked to speak to the manager who came over promptly and also said they did not do lumber clearance anymore. I said there was indeed a clearance cart and tried to imply that the industry standard is to keep the promise of any written word on signs even if that sign is a mistake. The manager still did not allow the 70% and said that the lumber I had selected was going to be trashed anyway. I asked if I could have it for free then. The manager said no and still offered resistance on the 70%. Either the manager got tired of dealing with me or realized that not selling lumber for cheap is better business than trashing it, because I did eventually get the lumber for the marked clearance.
Regardless, I would like to make it known that this happened and that not holding to written word and precedence is poor handling of business. I did not at all enjoy having to fight for a discount that should have been easy-peasy.
I will continue to shop Home Depots and probably even go to this one again, but I did not like...
Read moreFinally some good customer service at curbside/pickup order, I have been having grievances with this specific store customer service since early march of this year. From some lady thinking we stole a screw when we were looking for a specific "machine type pan head screw", 1 out of 3 fence panels being broken before we pick it up and a broken cabinet almost being put on our truck. (also a toilet getting broken while being put on the truck)
Today we pick up two orders, Monica was such as sweetheart, I explained how it show as ready for pick up but not email or button on the app (the order was selected as curbside so it should show but we know how apps like to go bonkers), she took over, she was fast, polite and cordial explaining how the new app update was giving problems, she call for help to bring it to our cart without us asking, while the guy arrived to help, she made sure our two orders were together (I saw her walk, pull the car of one order and next to the bay where our second order was), she went back to counter to check on other customers and comeback when the guy arrived to help, told him about our first order and where the second one was and exactly the number of boxes and still she was keeping an eye to not neglect other clients.
I may have a new grievance on the future, but I want to give credit where credit is due, today this employee went above and beyond to make sure from start to finish our order were ready, problem and...
Read moreAs I stood in the aisle trying to figure out which part I part I needed, there was an orange vested employee probably 10 feet away. She never asked if I needed help. That was Day 1. Day 2, I had to get a different orange vest to come back down off her ladder platform after she had helped someone else, then gone back up instead of asking if I needed help. But she had no clue if the part I presented to her would be a sufficient replacement for original that I also presented her. She also said there was nobody else in the store that could answer that question for me! I could understand her not knowing, but that nobody else in the store would know is insane! Day 3: This was a more positive experience. An orange vest actually did ask if I needed assistance AND was able to more than adequately answer my questions. Based on his assistance, I was able to make my decision. Once I have the supplies, I am more than capable of doing my own home improvements. Sometimes, I have to verify compatibility, though. And on Days 1 and 2, the orange vests...
