I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, I can't anymore. I have been coming to this salon twice per month since last December and even became a member.
When I arrived, I told the stylist (who I hadn't worked with before) that I needed to use my laptop because there were some emergencies I needed to address. She seemed understanding. My request for the day was simple: a blow-dry and quick styling before I could leave. She asked, "A little puff, okay?" I nodded, and that was it.
While my hair was being cooled, I suddenly felt a burning sensation on my scalp. I turned slightly and informed the stylist. This has happened before with different stylists at this salon, but usually, they would adjust my head, their wrists, or the temperature, and we would continue without any issues. I completely understand that mistakes can happen.
However, today was different. The stylist became defensive and denied any responsibility: "You kept looking at the computer, so it's your fault." "Do you even want me to finish your hair?" (repeated three times) "I have to perform the procedure at a certain angle, and your head is too low." "I'm not hurting your scalp; the hairdryer has to be at this angle." "You can leave if you want."
I have no problem with clear communication or accommodating the stylist's requirements. They could have even asked me to put away my laptop to make the procedure easier for them. However, denying my feelings that my scalp was burned is unacceptable. Using a high-temperature hairdryer carelessly and displaying a passive-aggressive attitude towards me is not professional.
The front desk lady was able to cancel this appointment under my membership and showed understanding. Thank you for that. However, considering there are many other hair salons in the Jersey City area, I have decided to speak with your manager regarding a refund and will be going to...
Read moreMy hair is naturally curly, and a couple months ago my hairstylist gave me a dry curly cut - which wasn’t my favorite, but it looked ok curly. I thought it was time to see what my hair looked like blown out. So when I got it done at Blo, I saw just how uneven the cut was - and let me tell you, it was not pretty. I knew it was NOT the Blo stylist’s doing and there likely was nothing she could do about it - and I am not one to complain, so I said thank you and left. But when I went across the street for a coffee, I sat there and thought, there is no way I’m going to see my bf with one side of my hair bouncy with layers and the other falling flat with a few pieces cut way shorter than the rest. So I went back across the street and my stylist, Lulu totally understood the nature of my problem (technically and emotionally) and was more than happy to help me out. She added some product and smoothed the layered side to match the longer side and I was SO grateful. Also, my bf had never seen my hair straight before, and he REALLY liked it 🧡😉😉 I’m SO happy with Blo and Lulu.💯 Also, their hair washing stations are the comfiest I’ve ever experienced. And I have a really hard time sitting at all salon sinks because I have neck and back issues. But I honestly could have taken a nap 😅 My only “negative” comment about Blo was that I had made the appointment for 2:45pm and they called me at 2:09 and said I was late for my 2pm appointment... So basically they were able to take me...
Read moreThis place needs to wake up and do better. I booked two appointments for my family’s hairstyles for my wedding day. I discussed everything in advance, and the lady at the front desk assured me it would all be fine. On the actual day, a lady named Rachel ruined everything. She seemed very junior and didn’t know how to do even basic things, like a simple blowout for my mom’s short hair. I ended up having to pay twice and ask my own hairstylist to redo it. For my niece, someone else started her hair, but Rachel interrupted and took over—and she ruined that too. It was incredibly stressful to deal with this on such an important day. I messaged the manager Ilene through multiple channels about the situation, but never got a response. Long story short: if you don’t want to risk ruining your hair, go to another salon nearby. I live in the building, so it was convenient, but my niece’s hair didn’t look good, which was a...
