Jersey Glam Nails — Local services in Jersey City

I would like to say that I am usually not someone to complain and that I have been going to Jersey Glam for about a year or so and most of my experiences have been good. Vanessa, Zilvia, Fatima, Maria, and Angie have all done amazing gel manicures.

Twice this summer when I've made appointments I've had someone else do my nails and the first time it was nor great--splotchy gel polish, not well shaped nails that snagged on the sides, removal that was done in a rushed way and damaged my natural nail. I try not to complain so I chocked it up to a one off event.

Well today it happened again. I had an appointment with Zilvia but she was busy so Genoveva did my nails again. Being that I tend to go with the flow, I was fine with it but this is the last time for me. My prior gel was removed with a lot of scraping, which annoyed me but I try not to complain. Then, 3 of my nails were so severely crooked that I asked her to fix them but then she made them even more crooked so I said I'd do it. I've never had to shape my own nails for a manicure in my life. Im not sure if that made her upset but after that, she seemed irritated and the application of the gel polish was very sloppy and streaky. I bring in my own gel base coat (partially for hygenic reasons ans partially because its a strengthener rhat helps with my weak nails) and while no one else seemed to have an issue with it, she seemed annoyed and said it didnt dry and then proceeded to use a buffer on the top coat and then put on the color. It may be hard to see in the photos but the polish is bumpy and streaky and there are various spots that were completely missed. Everyone was busy when I left so I paid and went home but I dont think I am coming back. I love the original team but when I make an appointment I would appreciate it being with the manicurist...

Wouldn’t recommend if you care about overall nail health and sanitation.

I came here two separate times. The first time was to get a gel manicure. Overall the result turned out fine, but the tools for the preparation of the nail did not look clean or sanitized. While most salons use nail tools that come in individually packed sterile bags, this salon did not do that, so I had no idea if the tools were used on other clientele.

Also while prepping the nail for polish, the nail tech used a nail file to buff the nail. I don’t believe this is customary because nail files (at least the one they were using) was a medium grit one which was quite rough on my nails. Afterwards, I could see the scratch marks that the nail file left on my nails. The nail tech seemed to be quite rushed throughout the nail prep stage, and did not take time to really cut down my cuticles. So, if you’re looking for that really clean look, maybe not the best place to go.

The second time I went, I went for a gel removal. They used a drill at first, then acetone with foil—all normal. Then, they went in with a medium grit nail file again and kept filing the top of my nail bed. Usually post-acetone, you’re supposed to scrape off any excess polish using a metal or wood stick and polish should come off easily. Then, maybe some light buffing, so it was off putting seeing them use a nail file when it wasn’t necessary, and would increase damage to my nail bed. Again, she was using tools that I had no idea where they were coming from, and did not look fully clean.

Sadly, I can’t recommend coming here just due to the lack of sanitization and cleanliness, and...

The nail products used were of top-notch quality, and I appreciated their commitment to using safe and hygienic practices.

Regarding the pricing, I found it to be reasonable considering the level of service and the high-quality products used. The value for money was definitely worth it. Overall, I had a fantastic time at Jersey Glam Nails. The exceptional customer service, talented technicians, and beautiful results made this visit unforgettable.
