The founder of Own Your Fitness, Adam, has been instrumental in helping me to get on track with my fitness and nutrition. Regarding nutrition, as an emotional binge eater (especially of refined sugar, as in cake, cookies, ice cream, chocolate, and on and on and on), I needed help with both stopping the binge eating and starting healthy, consistent eating habits. I have been logging and Adam has been tracking on a daily basis what I eat, how much I eat, when I eat, and how I am feeling about my eating. He makes suggestions after I submit every log to help me to make small adjustments to my eating behaviors with the goal of establishing good overall eating habits over time. He keeps me accountable, which is a crucial part of this nutrition and fitness plan for me. Unfortunately, until now, I have not had the self-discipline to do the right things with respect to food and exercise. Adam and I are building that internal mechanism every day.
Regarding the fitness side, I started working with Adam in-person in the gym in my building and then continued to work with him virtually after the quarantine started. I was actually hesitant to work via videoconference, as I doubted it would be of the same quality/efficacy. As soon as I agreed to try it and we started on Zoom, I knew I had nothing to worry about! In-person and online, Adam knows how to meet me where I'm at in terms of my fitness level while also challenging me to push myself hard. He doesn't have much tolerance for whining but is not aggressive or hostile when I'm being a baby. He just pushes me to go a little harder based on what he knows I can handle. In short, Adam is passionate, punctual, knowledgable (he really knows how to customize a plan for the individual), reachable (voice, email, text, etc.), encouraging, experienced, attentive, kind, and nonjudgmental.
I have been feeling better every day since starting with Adam. What does feeling better actually mean for me? My moods are more consistent, I do not have uncontrollable cravings for carbs and fat, my skin is better, my self-esteem is higher because I am finally in control of what goes into my body, my portions are a normal size (I used to binge on things other than fat and carbs, too!), my sleep is better (I am not waking up in a pool of sweat from a carb binge the night before), my waking up is easier (no food hangovers), I have more energy for workouts and never have to use the excuse that I am "sick" from eating too much, my body shape is slowly improving (I'm no spring chicken and understand that this progress will be slow but steady if I keep doing what Adam is recommending), and I am spending less money on the crap that used to provide very temporary relief from cravings, only to be followed by pain, demoralization, and, of course,...

This is to ensure that clothes continue to fit correctly and the agency you're signed with wants to continue investing in you. I have worked with Adam and Anya now for about a month. To give some context I first contacted Adam when I moved to Paulus Hook to get into top shape for a campaign shoot in Miami.
