0 out of 5 stars. I should've heeded the warning when a guy walked in after me and his first line was "I want to cancel my membership" lmao
Desk worker denied me access to workout in gym and rejected my valid free trial pass that I received from their website's promotion to pressure me into signing 3 month contract or buying a $15 single day pass. Despite having the pass, it was either pay $15 for a day pass, sign 3 month contract, or leave. His reasoning is in point #5.
Website marketed "Free Trial" and indirectly forced you to subscribe to their spam mail just to receive the free trial pass.
I was Judged based on some unknown visual metric.
His excuses of rejecting pass "we're only accepting in state ID" (After I showed him my out of state ID) "because, there's a lot of visitors coming right now" After presenting him my recent local ID, his excuse was "Well we're not accepting free trial day pass because it's spring break and people are visiting so there's no point in doing free trial passes right now" The logic was lacking and must've been some script passed down to him. (Friend who I was meeting at the gym mentioned spring break was the week prior to this incident btw)
After I rejected the grimy business ethics and disrespect, I walked to the parking lot to leave and Another employee came out and invited me back in to follow through on what the website advertised ( a simple one day free trial pass to try the gym out lol). I thought that was end of it but no, after that it was basically a long process of round-about, talking, a tour, more talking and then back to pressuring me into signing some contract. I articulated I wasn't interested in signing a contract multiple times and they just couldn't stop trying to hammer down my rejection lmao. They intended to either keep me busy talking or get me to sign the contract until I left despite the fact that when they brought me back in, it seemed as if they were doing so fix things and let me work out with my friend. It wasn't until a different employee named Chris showed up that when he asked if I was taken care of and set up to go workout, the other members responded quickly snapping into character with a cough couch "oh yes of course he's set up, yea man you're free to go workout now, go ahead!" XD I feel if Chris didn't show up, we would've been still stuck in that stalemate lmao.
First negative review/experience with a gym and it's so bad it's kindle funny. By the way I previously had memberships with Anytime fitness in San Diego, Amped Fitness in Florida and Planet Fitness nationally for context.
I came to this location to try out crunch for the first time, invited by my friend to try out the gym and workout with him. (Was considering determining if this gym would be worth switching over to) and now I know, definitely not.
I hope it's just this location because I'm interested in their business partnership perks program, tho I wouldn't want to do business with anyone their other the guy whose presence made the others put on their temporary easy to read through, commission based "good...
Read moreI've been a member at Johns Creek Crunch Fitness for over two years and wholeheartedly give it 5 stars, primarily due to the affordable monthly membership and the exceptional quality of Amy's yoga classes. Finding such a high-caliber instructor at this price point is truly rare.
Amy offers both Hatha Flow in the large group fitness room and Vinyasa Flow in the hot yoga room, each thoughtfully structured to guide participants from warming-up stretches to invigorating poses and finally to calming meditation. Her focus on in-person instruction fosters a genuine connection with members, creating a welcoming and supportive environment. Over the past two years, attending her classes diligently has not only improved my thyroid health—lowering my TSH level from 100 to 7—but has also helped me build pectoral muscles and flatten my abs, even in my 60s. Yoga is known to enhance core strength, build lean muscle, and improve stability, leading to a more resilient body and mind while promoting happy hormone production :)
In my opinion, Amy ranks among the best yoga instructors in town, comparable to those at premium fitness centers I've attended in the past. Her classes are highly sought after by yoga enthusiasts, and I consider myself fortunate to have discovered her sessions at Johns Creek Crunch.
If you're looking for a practice that cultivates both physical strength and mental peace, I highly recommend joining Amy's classes. The combination of Crunch’s affordability and Amy’s expertise offers unparalleled value in our community.
From my experience, I've noticed that certain small courtesies can greatly enhance the yoga experience for everyone—arriving on time allows for a smooth start and shows respect for the instructor and fellow members; turning off cell phones helps everyone stay focused and fully engaged in practice; removing shoes before entering the hot room maintains cleanliness and honors the shared space; and booking a spot ahead of time helps manage class sizes and ensures a place for everyone. After all, yoga is not just about physical health but also about practicing peace, harmony, and care for others~
I’d also like to kindly suggest the following to Johns Creek Crunch management to further enhance the yoga experience and accommodate more members. It would be great to: *Add more of Amy’s Flow Yoga classes to provide more opportunities for members to participate. *Enable temperature adjustments in the large group fitness room to ensure comfort during Hatha Flow classes, maintaining a range of 70°F to 75°F. *Ensure adequate transition time between classes so members have time to prepare for their yoga sessions without feeling rushed. *Minimize noise disruptions by lowering the volume of external music, particularly from the speakers near the group fitness room during Hatha Flow classes.
I hope my review helps both current and prospective members in choosing their journey toward health and wellness.
Thank you, Amy and Johns...
Read moreAs an enthusiastic member of Crunch Fitness, I've always been quick to praise the gym for its excellent facilities, the professionalism of its staff, and the positive community atmosphere it fosters. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't hesitate to give it a glowing five-star review. However, I find myself in a position where I must voice a serious concern that has significantly altered my perception of the gym, leading me to give a one-star rating for a recent experience.
On Thursday, April 4, 2024, during Joanna's 8:30 AM group fitness class, I encountered a situation that not only put my safety at risk but also made me feel discriminated against and unsupported by the staff at Crunch Fitness. Being of Asian descent and not entirely fluent in English, I sometimes face challenges, but I never expected to encounter them within the walls of my own gym.
The incident unfolded when I returned from a brief warm-up to find that another member had placed her mat extremely close to mine, leaving no space between us. When I politely asked for a bit more room for safety reasons, she flatly refused and insisted that I move my mat instead. The situation escalated when she placed her heavy dumbbells just behind my heels, creating a dangerous scenario where I could easily have been injured.
Seeking assistance, I approached the front desk, hoping for a resolution that would allow me to participate in the class I was eagerly anticipating. Unfortunately, the response I received was underwhelming, with no tangible action taken to address the situation. Faced with a lack of support, I felt no choice but to leave the class and reflect on what had just happened.
This incident is particularly upsetting because it not only involves personal discomfort and risk but also highlights larger issues within the gym's culture and the preparedness of its staff to handle disputes and ensure a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all members.
Crunch Fitness has always represented a community where mutual respect and the values of inclusivity are paramount, supported by staff who are committed to upholding these ideals. This recent experience, however, has shown me that there is considerable room for improvement in creating an inclusive environment and managing conflicts effectively.
I urge the management at Crunch Fitness to take immediate action to address these issues. It is crucial that all members can feel safe and welcome, free from discrimination and the risk of harm. Through the implementation of clear policies, thorough staff training, and a steadfast commitment to inclusivity, I believe that Crunch Fitness can once again provide the five-star experience that I, and others like me, know it is capable...
