This restaurant is the absolute jewel of this area. I stopped in because I was visiting another business in the same plaza, and wanted to pick up a slice of pizza to-go. Once I learned that they didn't do it by the slice, I ended up inviting a friend to join me for a margherita pizza.
Both of us LOVED it, and their select house Pinot Grigio was the perfect compliment to such an authentic pizza experience.
Okay, now, to go beyond the cliche of "it was great, it was authentic', here's the truth..
The pizza was seriously amazing. I don't know how they managed to get their dough to be so fluffy, it was seriously astounding. I can't speak about how it's done in Italy vs what I ate, but what I can say is that it is honestly the most satisfying pizza I have ever had.
They didn't skimp on the sauce, but it was such a perfectly balanced amount because you could still experience the lush bows of mozzarella. I accompanied my slices with their in-house granulated garlic that was so fresh that the aroma that rose from them made my mouth absolutely water.
And back to the dough! Even though we'd spent a fair amount of time conversing while the pizza sat in front of us and we slowly enjoyed our wine, even after 30+ minutes the pizza never began to get tough. It never hardened. I have never, and I really do mean never, has a pizza that wouldn't harden up once it cooled down. This is primarily why I invited my friend to join me - so that I wouldn't have to take so much of it home only for it to harden and feel like I threw away the money I so hard work for.
Then.. there is their Gelato. I had no real interest, until I learned that they did indeed make the gelato in-house. Otherwise, there would be no way for me to personally justify the cost. I ended up ordering a double-scoop of strawberry and coffee (I have an unusual palet). I could not have been more delighted with the experience. While other establishments may rely upon gimmicks like nitrogen for their velvety-texture, the fact that I could get such an elegant experience without any pony tricks is what blew me away. Their was no smoke, there was no performance, just strictly gelato that made my palet swim in waves upon waves of strawberry bliss before taking a plunge into the sultry harmony of coffee that tasted like it'd just been harvested.
I cannot sing the praises of my experience loud enough. Thank you for the amazing food and beautiful service. To the owner, I so sincerely appreciate the compliment of such an amazing experience in an area that is essentially my backyard. I feel so lucky to live to close to an experience like this, and I hope to see your continued excellence well...
Read moreJust went to Napoli 1 for a pizza. This place should be closed down and I plan on reporting them to the health department. When it comes to cleanliness it is of paramount importance when it comes to a food establishment. The young man making the pizza removed his baseball cap and ran his fingers through his hair then put his cap back on. He then proceeded to pull out a pizza dough to begin making my pizza. I told the cashier that there was no way I wanted a pizza that he was making - he came over and I explained why - because he just ran the fingers of both hands through his hair.and without even washing them proceeded to stretch a dough. No way! He washed his hands and apologized, then started making a pizza from a new dough. Unfortunately, the oven wasn’t hot enough a 2 minute pizza was in the oven for at least 10 minutes as he kept throwing in more wood and even paper towels to get the fire hot. The pizza came out covered in soot from the burning paper and raw wood. I asked for a refund as I did not want that pizza - not for $28, and not for nothing. The “owner” as he represented himself to be came from the back and offered to make a new pizza. It wasn’t much better as the oven wasn’t heated properly but suitable. I explained to the “owner” how not washing hands after running hands through hair is just gross! He didn’t seem to understand or be too concerned. I’d stay clear of this place - there are so many other pizzerias in the area to risk...
Read moreI was very excited about trying out Napoli 1 pizza as my wife has said nothing but great things about them, but unfortunately I was disappointed. As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by an extremely pleasant young girl who took our order promptly. I was a bit taken aback that the food and bottle of wine totaled just under $100 with tip (we probably didn’t need to tip as we basically did everything ourselves). We took our bottle of wine and sat eagerly awaiting the pizzas. The nice gentlemen made and delivered the pizzas which were very good. Being from NJ, we have visited many pizza joints and they definitely were overpriced.
After the tv was changed so we could watch the NFL season opener, we relaxed and began to enjoy our date night. We were surprised when the young girl left, the tv was turned off, a couple of lights were turned off and the kitchen guys left just before 9pm. We were approached by a woman who said that they closed at 9pm and that we had to leave, but could sit on the patio if we so desired. She said she was the co-owner and that she had to go home because she had young children. I felt as though we were a bother and even though we spent $100 and we were the only patrons in the restaurant, we didn’t feel like we were a valued customer. I am sorry to say that we will not be returning and even though we live right around the corner, we will have to find another pizza place...
