Chef Dinesh Cafe - Indian Cuisine & Banquet Event Hall — Restaurant in Johns Creek

My brother recently hosted a baby shower party during the 4th of July long weekend at this Indian restaurant's banquet hall. The experience was a mix of positives and negatives, but overall, it left a good impression.

Let's start with the food. The appetizers we had included vegetable samosas, Manchurian, vegetable spring rolls, and hara bhara kebabs. They were all delicious and perfectly complemented the main course. Speaking of which, the dal tarka, jeera rice, butter naan, paneer makhani curry, malai kofta curry, and vegetable jalfrezi curry were all flavorful and well-prepared. The meal was rounded off with delightful gulab jamuns for dessert. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the variety of dishes and their authentic flavors.

However, one significant drawback was the service. Although the food was satisfactory, the level of attention and responsiveness from the staff was lacking. We encountered an issue with the availability of chairs, as there were not enough for everyone to be seated comfortably. Despite requesting additional chairs multiple times, our concerns were never properly addressed. It was unfortunate that some of our guests had to stand throughout the event, which affected the overall experience.

That being said, I would still recommend this Indian restaurant for their delicious food. If you plan on dining in at their restaurant or ordering takeout, I believe you will be pleased with the flavors and quality. Amazing food! I’ve been following Chef Dinesh for some years now in Atlanta! Before he was working as a chef at other establishments and now I’m happy to see him with his name on the door at his OWN restaurant! Chef Dinesh is a great chef. Went here last night with some friends and it was great food! For appetizers we got Malai Chicken, Lamb Chops, & Chicken 65. The Malai chicken literally melts in your mouth, packed with flavor! Chicken 65 was the perfect crispy and seasoned to perfection. The hints of lime and chaat masala really made that appetizer stand out from other places. The Lamb Chops, what can I say, his most famous recipe/item absolutely packed with flavor and sizzling hot!

Main course: Butter Chicken & Lamb Di Piazo along with Bullet naan and Garlic naan. The butter chicken was just as rich and creamy as it should be perfect spice level for everyone to eat and packed with flavor. The Lamb Di Piazo was something very different. It was a little thicker gravy but a much different flavor than what Indian food is normally. I loved it! The best part: the lamb was SOFT & TENDER, which to me is a big plus considering not everyone can cook lamb well. The Bullet Naan & Garlic Naan we’re also great. People think it’s not hard to mess up naan but you’re wrong. Lot of people serve raw dough not cook properly throughout, not Dinesh. The Naans were cooked perfect, soft and fluffy with a crisp outside. Chef Dinesh is a true guru in the kitchen and I’ve ALWAYS enjoyed his food and catering. Will be back...

Chef Dinesh has FAILED the Health Inspection, receiving a 59 (U - Unsatisfactory) score.

Despite that, the staff of this restaurant has a major attitude issue towards its customers.

Prior to knowing they failed the food inspection, we were about to book their banquet hall. We agreed on a price, and I don’t know where Dinesh got his disrespectful attitude from, but he proceeded to ghost us, ignore our calls, and texts to decide a date to give the deposit.

Dinesh and our family decided on a date and time to meet and when we came, he was not even there. Then, his staff member Deepak, proceeded to argue with us in the most condescending manner about coming in, despite us showing him the multiple texts and calls that were made. Regardless, he was extremely demeaning, rude, and inhospitable.

We still wanted the banquet hall, and sent another text to Dinesh. He has not responded to us since.

Extremely disappointing behavior. After doing a search, we were horrified to learn that the restaurant had failed the health inspection. Lot of attitude for someone that has zero business. The red flags are so obvious now. We went at peak lunch times to meet over the span of 2 weeks, and not a single person was there except for the staff manager.
