Very disappointed. Bypassed the Mellow Mushroom that is closer to my home to go to this one because this location had better more recent reviews than the one closer to me. Had I known, I would have taken my chances with the closer location and pretty sure I would have had better luck! I placed the order online before 630, and selected pick up time for 715. I got there 10 mins ahead of time. No worries there because I was early but the employee told me the oven had broken (or some issue with it) and it would be a few more minutes. Again, no worries because I was early. In hindsight, wish I had just canceled. I finally got the pizza at 732. Five mins after arriving, someone told me 10 more mins. I opened it up to make sure the order was correct when it came to me. The person that handed it to me didn't show it to me to make sure. Anyway, I opened the pizza and noticed the larger pizza looked like it was handled roughly from the kitchen to the counter to give to me. Oddly, some of the toppings from one of the slices was on top of the box. And the slices appeared as if they were shifted. Not sure if the person that brought the pizza to me almost slipped in transit or what but it was weird. Mind you the trip from kitchen to counter/bar area isn't far. But at this point, I was ready to go. They'd already thrown off my evening with the delay. So I didn't point it out, didnt want to wait any longer for them to fix (that is if they would even havs offered). In any case, get home and the pizza was not good. I decided to warm it up a bit in hopes that would help but nope. This was NYE by the way. I warmed the leftovers on Jan 2nd and it was worse. Idk if they had an off night or just didn't wanna be there or what but Mellow Mushroom isn't what I'd consider cheap pizza, so I expected better. No apology about the delay, no offer for a drink while I waited... nothing. Now if the pizza was delicious, I would have rated higher but unfortunately there was nothing great about this visit (customer service, wait time, pizza taste/quality). $40+ for 1 large and 1 small. Marcos is better in comparison to this experience here, not to mention way cheaper. Don't get me wrong, I'm not cheap and don't mind paying more but expect better when I do... more than likely will not return to...
Read moreLOL! This place is a mess. SO! We get there and are waiting to be seated, it is 4 of us and it is not busy. It takes them about 10mins to sit us after asking us about 5 times how many of us there was. We finally are seated, we obviously want beer because it pairs so well with pizza. Our server ID's my boyfriend and I (we're 25). I physically hand her my ID and she looks at it, and says ok. She goes around the table, comes back and lets us know they ran out of Blue Moon BUT are putting in another KEG. OKAY! About 5 mins later, the ID police (aka a crusty cook) comes out and asks to see my ID again, again I physically hand this establishment my ID again. He says OKAY again. And tells me the server was worried it was fake because I look young. OKAY! Anyways, about 5 mins later the server comes back and tells us they RAN OUT OF BLUE MOON. Are you lying or is it my "fake" ID the DMV gave me? LOL. I'm 100% annoyed with them by then and we order a Large Pepperoni pizza, a simple and easy order. Tell me why they bring us a MEDIUM pizza. LOL. We should have walked out then but I was so hungry. She said another server gave our pizza away and she brought us a medium and was going to bring us a small pizza as well to 'make-up' for the mix-up. LMAO. So instead of just telling us 'hey someone took your pizza, we're making you a new one' they decide to bring us a small and a medium pizza. We tell her no, to keep the small as we're only paying for the medium because I'm absolutely done with this establishment. A man i'm assuming was their manager came to our table after and said he was going to "take care of the bill". My friend ordered something that resembled bird food, so there's that. SO our bill comes and the manager said he's taking $5 off the bill and giving us our small pizza. (LMAO! I honestly almost fell on the floor laughing) My boyfriend said he is not paying for the piss poor service we received and the manager agreed and took back his bill and his small pizza. lol. The only reason they're getting a 1-star is because he (the manager) agreed we shouldn't pay for trash service and a...
Read moreUpdate: So, we returned 3/25, and again received great service from Taylor, Amanda , and Ken (The 'young man' I mentioned in my initial post) both stopped by our table and spoke with us. It wasn't an anomaly our first visit, its just how they roll here. Obviously a great team with pride in their work. This time we had the Bruschetta and a Pacific Rim pizza, delicious as usual!
We were in the area and hadn't visited this restaurant before, but knowing Mellow Mushroom wouldn't disappoint, we decided to check it out. The restaurant was very clean and bright. As we walked in, Ida greeted us and told us to pick our spot. Ida was quick to take our order and so pleasant to talk to...in fact I noted two kitchen staff bring out to go orders while we were there, and both, Amanda and unfortunately I didn't hear anyone call out the young man's name, but both of them provided exemplary customer service. I don't say that often, I'm a retired service level manager, so that word is exactly appropriate. They even opened the box and asked their customer if it looked good to them and thanked them for visiting. Now the food, we ordered the house special, of course it was excellent, and they didn't skimp on the toppings, the bruschetta was delicious. In fact, we ate it and some pizza slices before I even thought about taking pictures to share. It's roughly a 35-minute drive from my home, but we'll be back soon. My wife wants to go this weekend so our son can treat her ;) Thanks, Mellow Mushroom...
