The overall design of the coffee shop is unique. The colors are simple and modern, with slight funky spins here and there for decoration. It had a good amount of seating across the shop with a variety of different chairs depending on the type of hangout or work space you want. So, the interior place itself is rather nice with myself ranking it a 4/5 in itself. It offers a good variety of choices for coffee, tea, and even some canned beverages in addition to a varrying baked goods and food dishes. I've been to Matchhead many-a-time, and I've never had anything bad. I have tried things that weren't to my liking, but that's because I was trying something new, and I found out I didn't like it (for example, a cortado). Prices are decent as well. For what I ordered in the photo, it only cost around $10. Food/Price I'd also place around 4/5. Now, the real debate is the atmosphere. If you're looking for a hush place with good coffee where everybody is quietly keeping to themselves - the perfect place to hermit and read a book or do a bit of computer work without any headphones...I'd say Matchhead isn't a place you should stop by. The music is a selection of folk/pop/soft rock (Iron and Wine, Hozer, Coldplay, etc) that is a pleasant background, but it can still get pretty loud in there. People have conversation, as a lot of people know each other, and aren't afraid to display a hearty laugh. Currently, there are two women sitting 3 or so tables away as I write this, and I can nearly hear every word they're saying with good clarity. Personally, it doesn't bother me. There can certainly be rushes where it feels like everybody-and-their-mother is in the cafe and having battles to see if they can top the other conversations in volume, which can get a little annoying. In sum, if you're looking for a place to come and have a quiet worktime, bring some good headphones because depending on the day and hour, it may get pretty loud. Other times, it's a grand place to enjoy the sounds, background murmer of conversations, and watch the happenings on the Kalamazoo Mall out the window. Overall, 3/5. I've had days it's felt like a 5/5 - cozy, calm, quiet, nice - and I've had days it's been a 2/5 - loud, busy, slow, and chaotic. It's a toss-up, but certainly worth visiting a few times. Oh, they're all nice people, just a little noisy as an...

BEST COFFEE PLACE ON THIS SIDE OF MICHIGAN. I am a decadent coffee fanatic and as someone who lived in NYC, the creations here are better than some Manhattan cafes I've been to! If you are a cold foam girl this is a must!!!!

The biggest specialty to me is their custom cold foam, they can make any cold foam flavor based of their syrups, which I believe they make in house I added an earl grey cold foam to my hibiscus latte and it was magical! The coffee is STRONG and not at all watery, it is super creamy and paired with the syrups it's perfectly decadent but not too sweet.

They also serve cold brew and nitro cold brew, and according to my boyfriend the matcha is decent too (paired with oatmilk is super creamy too.) They have a generous list of syrups (brown sugar, cinnamon, etc...) Not to mentioned the customer service is extremely friendly Haven't tried their food, but if you love a sweet...

The latte was good. It is pretty empty in the morning which is nice. While I was there one of the baristas was loudly talking to a customer and joking around with him and then she flipped them off. She then talked loudly about her fears for the future and going to college and it is super echoey in there because it is a lot of hard surfaces. I thought it was weird since I think a church owns the coffee shop and I just didn’t expect that their employees would act that way and it made it hard to focus on reading. The same Around 1 pm a bunch of people come in through the doors in the back and it gets very loud. The latte was good and it might be a great place to meet up with a loud friend or take the kids but not a good place to chill and read or work. Maybe hit a different coffee shop or bring headphones if you need a...

Best coffee in Kalamazoo. They now use Madcap coffee. They always make a great cortado. You wouldn’t even know they were owned by a church unless you asked why the glass back of the space opens to the inside of Radiant Church. I’ve never felt like I was being proselytized. I’ve never witnessed any bigotry to anyone. The staff is always friendly. I think some of the reviewers are being prejudiced about this place when they discover they’re owned by a church.

I was greeted with a friendly smile by a barista before I even opened the door. I was surprised at how large the shop is! It's got a loveley atomosphere-very much a retro 70's vibe and a very OPEN layout. There's cute tables stationed throughout and the cutest decor and nice music. Probably my favorite coffee shop I've geen to! If you haven't gone, check it out and spend some time there :)
